Hahaha, it’s been 4 months since the surgery. It was my first revision surgery, and I chose Wona Plastic Surgery, the hospital I had consulted with for the third time. What I considered most important was finding a doctor who could create a design that suited me well, because I had realized that the nose shapes I thought were pretty didn’t suit me, so I had no idea what kind of nose shape would be good for me. So I decided to trust the doctor’s sense. When I looked at Dr. Choi Tae-jun’s review photos, I felt that he was someone who understood well what shapes suit each individual.
In the end, I’m glad I went there, and I think the surgery turned out well. First of all, my coworkers praised it a lot. My short columella, asymmetrical nostrils, and blunt, lowered nasal tip were improved, yet even acquaintances I hadn’t seen in a long time didn’t realize I’d had surgery. Of course, people with a sharp eye immediately noticed that the tip had become higher and complimented me, but even so I was amazed that there was almost no swelling or bruising, which was so different from my previous surgery.
What stuck with me was when the doctor said that this surgery was the most difficult one he had ever done, but that he was still happy because it turned out so beautifully.
Every time I visited, he said it had been an extremely difficult surgery, and that was really true because I lay on the operating table a little after 4 p.m., and it was around 11 p.m. when I left the hospital.
He said the previous hospital had operated in a way that made it hard to touch again, so this was basically a surgery that involved rebuilding the columella from scratch, and that I had to be extremely careful. He also said an inexperienced doctor would have given up midway through, which left a strong impression because he showed pride in the skill that had handled my nose.
In fact, the columella was badly twisted inside my nose, and because of that I sometimes had nasal congestion. Even visually, that part was fixed, and the actual nasal congestion improved too, so the functional side got better as well.
If I had to name one thing I was disappointed about, it would only be that the ointment I had to buy by prescription was surprisingly expensive? But I figured that meant it was a really good medicine~
Later, when I went in for follow-up visits, they also managed the scar with a laser, and there had been some scar tissue buildup, but they carefully rechecked the design with steroid injections for the scar tissue, so the shape could settle nicely.
The doctor said he thought the surgery had gone well because he liked the angle and length of my columella, and I agree with that too, so I really feel I found a doctor with both good sense and skill.
He also said I didn’t need any more follow-ups, but if I ever needed anything, I could make an appointment and come anytime, so I felt that they really do pay attention to aftercare too.
