Day 1 (day of surgery)
On the day of surgery, I arrived at the hospital around 9:30, waited a little, moved to the inpatient room, changed clothes, and met the consultant and director one last time before surgery. I was told that swelling would be severe on days 3 to 5, and that swelling could go down asymmetrically. I waited a little in the inpatient room and entered the operating room around 10:20. According to my mother, I came out around 1:40. Right after surgery, when I opened my eyes, I did not feel that it hurt that much, but I was very sleepy, so it was hard to endure. Also, breathing was very uncomfortable, and my throat was dry, but I could not drink water until evening, so it was very difficult.
Day 2
In the morning, they removed the urinary catheter and the drainage tube inside my mouth, and I also received laser swelling treatment. My body had no strength, so I rested in bed for a while, then I had seen that walking helps reduce swelling, so I walked around inside the hospital a little, then went back to bed to rest, repeating resting and walking. In the afternoon, I had an X-ray taken, rested in bed, drank the New Care given by the hospital, gargled, and put the wafer in properly.
Day 3
It was the day of discharge. From around 9:30? I prepared for discharge and waited for my parents to come. Before my parents arrived, I saw the director one last time, then my parents came and we were discharged together. I went to the pharmacy and got my medications, and there were really a lot to take.. After getting all the medicine and coming home, I showered right away, and fortunately I did not get dizzy or collapse. While showering, I looked in the mirror, and it was funny because my face was very swollen. In the evening, compared with days 1 and 2, my nose was a little more open, but just like days 1 and 2, it was still hard to sleep.
Week 1
My face had maximum swelling on day 5. At that time, every time I looked at myself in the mirror, I thought, wow, I look really ugly, and I remember laughing a little by myself. When I read reviews from people who had double jaw surgery, they said it gets a little better from week 1, and once I reached week 1, maybe because I had adapted a bit, I think it was okay. And even at week 1, I was too lazy to eat anything else, so I lived on New Care only. I went to the hospital, received laser swelling treatment, had the inside of my mouth disinfected, and returned home.
Week 2 (current)
The swelling has gone down more than before, but maybe I am the type whose swelling does not go down easily, because I am still a little puffy, so I think more time needs to pass. Before, even when it was hot, I went for walks a bit, but these days the weather is hot and then suddenly rains, so it is a bit awkward to go out,, When the weather gets a little better, I should go out for walks more often than usual. These days, I am eating a lot of soft foods like porridge, bread, and steamed eggs, and filling my stomach haha. In week 2, I went to the hospital, received laser swelling treatment, and had the stitches removed. In stitch removal reviews, there were many comments saying it hurts, so I was worried, but for me it did not hurt as much as I expected. The director told me it was healing well, and now I was told to practice opening my mouth and loosen the muscles around my mouth while pronouncing a-e-i-o-u, so I am doing it diligently!
