Double-Jaw Surgery Reviews

Writing this in hopes it helps with double-jaw surgery (1 month after double-jaw and facial contouring)

I had double-jaw surgery and three types of facial contouring (zygoma, square jaw, chin) on July 10, and now one month has passed. My recovery process has been smooth, so I wanted to share this review in case it may help anyone considering double-jaw surgery.

I wrote this mainly about how it felt before and after surgery, what to prepare, and the recovery process.

Pre-surgery preparation

After finishing my meal the day before surgery and starting fasting, I organized the things I needed. What matters here is carefully preparing the basic supplies. You should prepare things like a sauce bottle bought from Daiso, extra underwear, liquid food, angelica root, and potassium supplements. For meals after surgery, nutritionally rich options would be good . Day of surgery (July 10) On the morning of surgery, my feelings were mixed when I arrived at the hospital, but I felt more excited than anything. While I changed into a patient gown and prepared for surgery, the nurses treated me kindly, so I felt at ease. If you just lie there in the operating room, the surgery is over before you know it. After surgery, when I woke up from anesthesia, it was uncomfortable at first, but the nurses kept taking care of me, which was a big help.   First day after surgery (July 11)

On the first day after surgery, it was hard to breathe, so I had to focus on survival. There was a tube attached to my nose, and there was gauze and a blood drain inside my mouth, so breathing was extremely difficult. However, the hospital nurses helped me very warmly, and thanks to their help, I was able to gradually calm down. My mouth was dry and the discomfort was significant, but I endured it by drinking small sips of water. That day was truly full of survival instinct.

Second day (July 12)

On the second day, the tube and gauze were removed, and breathing became much better. Once the nasal tube and gauze were removed, breathing improved a lot. The swelling also went down a little, and once I started walking around inside the hospital, my body felt much lighter. Still, I had to be careful with movement, and ice packs and the band helped a lot. This was the day I could drink some water and also try New Care.

Third day (July 13)

On the third day, day 3 after surgery, my recovery visibly improved. After the first two days of difficulty breathing, the nasal tube and gauze were removed, making breathing much easier. There was still swelling, but I felt like I was gradually being freed from the discomfort in my mouth. I managed the swelling with ice packs every day, and when I started light walks inside the hospital, I could feel my body gradually improving. It helped a lot. Throughout the day, I continued basic care such as light movement, New Care, and gargling, and gradually gained confidence.

One week (July 17)

After one week had passed since surgery, I improved a lot. There was still swelling, but my overall recovery seemed very fast. From this day, I was able to start simple walks at home, and talking also became a bit more comfortable. Speaking was a little difficult at first, but as my face required less effort, talking became easier too. When I looked in the mirror, I could see my facial shape gradually stabilizing and the swelling going down. I gained confidence in my recovery speed and adapted more to daily life with a positive mindset.

Day 10 (July 20)

By day 10 after surgery, my recovery had improved very noticeably. Daily activities became much easier, and I could go out or do simple exercise without much burden. There was still some bruising, but it had improved a lot, and the overall look of my face became much more natural. At first, sleeping well was difficult, but now I could find a comfortable position and sleep. I gained a lot of confidence at this stage.

Week 2 (July 24)

At 2 weeks after surgery, some discomfort and swelling still remained during the recovery process. The facial swelling had gone down a lot, but some still remained, so there was still slight pressure or discomfort. It was especially noticeable when I woke up in the morning. But as the day went by, I could feel the swelling gradually decreasing.

I was still mainly eating some soft foods or liquid foods, and I was still cautious about long periods of activity. My facial sensation felt somewhat dull, and I occasionally felt slight pain, but overall, it felt like the recovery speed was getting faster.

At this point, the most important things were consistent care and patience. Continuing ice packs, gargling, and the methods advised by the director helped with recovery. The hospital’s follow-up care and consultations were also a big help.

<One month>

At first, the swelling was severe and speaking was difficult, but now recovery is almost complete. The swelling has almost disappeared, the pain has decreased a lot, and although a little swelling remains in the morning, there is no problem at all with daily activities.

For meals, regular food is now okay too. At first, I only ate soft foods, but now I have no problem eating foods other than meat or rice cakes. I am also continuing to take supplements to help recovery.

I can now comfortably do daily activities, go out, and do light exercise. Conversation has become much more natural, and the awkward pronunciation has almost resolved.

I am still continuing warm compresses, and I think they help with swelling management. In particular, the hospital’s follow-up care and consultations were a big help.

The reason I recommend Y Oral Dental Clinic is that the hospital’s clean environment, professional medical service, and concise consultations made the postoperative recovery process very smooth. In particular, thanks to Director Lee Seok-jae’s meticulous care and experience, I was able to recover with peace of mind and focus on recovery. I was very satisfied with the follow-up care and advice provided by the hospital, and I strongly recommend it to anyone considering double-jaw surgery.

This is a surgery review that pursues natural beauty.
