I had rhinoplasty as soon as I turned 20 and got the best result possible with the techniques available then, but my short and bulbous nose was not corrected. Even without contracture, it looked somewhat upturned. After searching several places, I asked a friend where she had surgery because her result was so beautiful, and I went for a consultation. The director drew on photos of my nose and explained the planned changes. She designed such a perfect nose that I thought I would have no other wish if it turned out that way.
I knew the result might not be exactly what I wanted, so I looked at reviews, although honestly many seemed like advertisements. I mainly searched the clinic website's before-and-after cases for before photos similar to mine, and the after photos had the shape I wanted. I decided on this clinic and had the surgery.
This time I used autologous costal cartilage; previously, auricular cartilage had been used. The rib-donor site hurt a lot, and the cotton in my nose was extremely uncomfortable, but as soon as it was removed I felt able to live again. The donor site is not perfect, but it does not interfere with daily life at all.
It has been about a month since surgery. The surgical wound is healing without problems, and I am diligently applying ointment. Most swelling has gone down. It was already fairly natural from the second week, and now the slight residual swelling is gradually decreasing, so it is looking better and better.
I also had cheekbone augmentation, so the area beside my nose is still a little swollen and makes my nose look slightly bigger. Apart from that, the shape and correction of my short, upturned nose have been very successful! I realized anew how important it is that the nose not look lifted, and I wonder why I did not have this surgery sooner. But I think techniques have only recently developed enough to correct my nose this perfectly.
I do not think I will need another revision, and I want the swelling to go down faster so I can have a slimmer nose. For reference, my friend is two years post-op and saw swelling continue to decrease until the one-year mark, so I decided not to be impatient. Aftercare is good, the clinic responds quickly, and I highly recommend it! I am completely satisfied with the consultation, examination, surgery, and aftercare.
