Eye Surgery Reviews

An Apgujeong revision-surgery specialist calling revisional patients mentally ill…

<Before surgery, natural line> <After surgery> This post is written for public-interest purposes, not to slander anyone.

I’m writing this for the public good, and I’m worried that some of you might go to this cosmetic surgery clinic. Women especially should not go there.

The reason is that when a coordinator saw the progress photos of my eye surgery, her voice changed into a laughing tone during the call, so I complained and told her not to laugh. Another coordinator took me to take photos without even showing me the mirror after removing the stitches, and while saying, “Don’t open your eyes like that,” she got annoyed, even though I told her I couldn’t open my eyes, and she made me retake the photos five times and spoke rudely….

If you request aftercare, refunds, etc. for a year after revision eye surgery, a bald, fat, gangster-like man comes out from the back door of the desk where only female staff were working and speaks to you in a threatening tone, telling you to talk to him.

When I asked them to apologize for laughing while I was on the phone, and said I was struggling because my eyes would not open due to the side effects, and asked if they could not tell the difference between when to laugh and when not to laugh, and whether it was funny that someone’s eyes had ended up like this, he said, “I wasn’t laughing,” then went inside to check his own recording and did not come out for a long time.

They had already recorded me as well. So since he took too long to come out, I asked another coordinator why he wasn’t coming out and asked them to call him.

Then a bald gangster-like man came out from behind the desk and stood there sideways, glaring at me, telling me to go outside and talk to him; It was truly frightening and absurd.

I think he was hired by the directors with some kind of intent, because he is big and has a fierce look, so even a little threatening language or behavior would scare women.

In the end, I did not receive an apology from that coordinator. They took me to a private, soundproof room unlike a normal consultation room, and that bald man said he would apologize in her place; I said I didn’t need an apology from a third party, but I just let it go there for the moment. (Later I went to that coordinator in person and got a half-hearted apology out of her.)

I just wanted to meet the director and get my eyes fixed. In my case, my eyes wouldn’t open, so I had eye muscle correction + natural adhesion + upper canthoplasty, and everyone said, “Why did you do it?” and that it was ruined.

Before surgery, my natural photos showed an in-line eye, and as I got older, the double eyelid on one eye gradually loosened, leaving me with asymmetrical eyes. The distance between my eyes was also very narrow. But the director kept saying my eyes did not need front or upper canthoplasty, that I absolutely had to do it or else there was no meaning to double eyelid surgery, and overtreated me. I felt like I was being gaslit and, going alone, I fumbled around and paid in advance.

Even the day before surgery, I said I only wanted double eyelid surgery and did not want to touch the front-canthus area, but they kept insisting that I had to add upper canthoplasty for 440,000 won and spoke in a pushy way. I asked for a slightly higher, natural in-out line instead of an in-line, but the doctor said okay and made it into an out-line + semi-out-line.

The post-surgery photo was taken with my eyes opened as much as possible with full effort.

This is my ruined eye. Even at another hospital, they said the lines were uneven and, at best, semi-out or out, and that even after the swelling went down more, it would be the same. They said my eye condition could not produce an in-out or in-line shape….

My impression changed into something harsh, and the hardest part is that I had eye muscle correction but opening my eyes is difficult and they still don’t open properly. I never had dry-eye syndrome before, and I don’t wear contacts, but it feels like I’m wearing circle lenses 24 hours a day, with severe foreign-body sensation and pain. If you have eye muscle correction, your eyes should open to some degree, right? It felt as if someone had stuck stapler tape over my eyes so I couldn’t open them, and it was agonizing.

Right after surgery, I exchanged numbers and talked with the patient next to me in the recovery room, and when they asked how much I paid, and I said 1.2 million won, they said they paid 770,000 won and asked why I paid so much;; That person had surgery with a different doctor, and we became close. They contacted me later and said their eyes open well, there was little swelling because it was natural adhesion, and the line turned out beautifully, which made them very happy. Even I could see the symmetry and that it came out nicely.

So I requested a follow-up consultation for aftercare. They took me to a soundproof private room and the consultation manager was there too. According to the doctor, it was all swelling and would improve after a few months to a few years, and it varied from person to person, but there was no way I could live for months with this ferocious, interview-fail-looking face. You don’t pay money to get double eyelid surgery just to endure not being able to open your eyes while living with a line opposite from the one you wanted.

I found someone with the same case as me. On a blog, a doctor from a famous revision-surgery clinic wrote that for people like me with droopy eyes and a lot of fat, incision or fat removal plus adhesion was necessary, and that if you try to raise the line using adhesion alone, the eyes won’t open. He also posted cases of side effects.

So I told that doctor that there was a case like mine, explained the symptoms, and said that the person had had eye muscle correction and had the buried-thread double eyelid suture removed and returned to how they were before. Since the line was also not the one I had aimed for, I said I wanted to go back to the way I was, and he said to me, “That’s a mentally ill person.” I said I was struggling mentally and that I might even develop social anxiety. Then the doctor, in an incredulous tone of not understanding, said, “Why would you get social anxiety? Why worry about what other people think?”

Everyone was surprised seeing my eyes, which had turned fierce, and asked why I had even had surgery…. I was under so much stress, and even the consultation manager, after receiving my photos by text the day before, sounded shocked and asked if these were recent photos, saying they could arrange revision surgery right away and that they would pass it on.

But the director kept mocking me repeatedly, saying his surgery was perfect and that since I said I wanted to remove my double eyelid sutures, pointing at my pre-surgery eyes and saying, “Someone like you should not do anything to your face from now on. Never do anything for the rest of your life and just live~~ You won’t be able to do anything anyway~~ Just don’t do anything and live~~”

Mental-illness insults and sneering, humiliating my character.

As if I were being gaslit, he kept saying his surgery was perfect, that there was not even a 1 mm error. If I really wanted the sutures removed, he would remove them, but they would never fully return to normal, and that because the surgery was perfect, if I was undoing it, it was my own fault. He fired off words in a barrage and got up abruptly and walked away….

I never expected the director to come out like that, sneering and acting like a thug(?). Before surgery, he was busy but quite kind.

In the end, I booked the natural-adhesion eye muscle correction reversal for December as early as possible, and inside the elevator on the way home, I could not endure being humiliated.

How can you call a patient mentally ill?? I went back up, thinking I had to get an apology for the insult. At the desk I said I wanted to have a brief consultation with the director, and the coordinator asked what it was about, so I said that director had called me mentally ill and that I needed an apology, so I at least needed to see him briefly.

Then the bald man appeared again (for convenience, I’ll call him Baldie) and told me to wait, saying the director had no reason to see me and absolutely would not see me, so I should leave. When I asked them to arrange a consultation with the chief director of this place, they refused. What I was later told was that the chief director said he had no reason to see me, and asked whether I really needed to know all of this, telling me to leave…? He absolutely would not see me.

I said I would wait, that it wouldn’t even take 5 minutes, just 1 to 2 minutes, and I would wait here. I went back to the coordinator and asked again when I could meet the director, and then Baldie appeared again and, saying I should be in the consultation room (the private room), asked why I was here, calling it interference with business in an agitated tone, standing with one leg bent and arms crossed, and repeatedly pointing at me with a sharply sharpened 4B pencil. I had no choice but to feel both humiliated and afraid there.

I’m a small woman, only 155 cm tall, and the sharp pencil tip was pointed at face level, which was extremely unpleasant and threatening.

He shouted for me to get out, while his own voice was louder, and kept threateningly telling me to lower my voice.

When I said I wanted an apology, he said the director could sue me for insult if he wanted to, but the director would never see me, so I should get out and stop interfering with business, and he shouted at me.

In the lobby, the consultation manager had also heard the mental-illness sneering insult, but pretended not to know and stood by saying, “When was that? Did you say that?” I understand that’s just a salaried employee getting paid; the consultation manager probably felt that way. Their job is to pretend not to hear what they hear and not to see what they see.

I said I had no intention of suing the director, and asked why I would come here if I were going to sue; I just wanted an apology, and how was that interfering with business? He got irritated, saying it was interfering with business, and made a face like he’d swallowed something awful. I said this did not count as interference with business, and he got worked up, telling the coordinator to report me to the police.

I reported them too. I said that at this cosmetic surgery clinic in Apgujeong, the bald man had been standing there doing nothing and called it interference with business, insulted me in front of everyone, and pointed at me with something sharp to threaten me.

In the end, the police came and said that in my case it did not count as interference with business. I explained what had happened, and the police officer kindly sympathized and asked whether I had filed it as a medical-malpractice incident, and because of that kindness I ended up crying from the tears I had been holding back No one there was on my side and all sides were hostile, so I was grateful that they empathized with my situation. The police officer said that since I did have a revision-surgery appointment, we should leave for now and postpone the apology, so I left. I went to the police station and said I intended to file a complaint, and the police officer kindly pointed out the bald man through the glass door and asked whether I knew the exact names of those people if I wanted to sue them, saying, “Aren’t you going to sue that person? Hurry and go write down the name.” I went straight to Gangnam Police Station. I was there to file the complaint.

The detective handling the case read it, got angry, cursed that it was abnormal, and got heated and angry with me, and I’ll omit how I filed the complaint after that…….

Members, please do not go here…. please This is not a properly run place….

1. There is a fierce, gangster-like bald man at the cosmetic surgery clinic (the main clientele are young women, but this man handles all complaints, refunds, and everything), and I did not even ask for a refund.

2. When I tried to get an apology from a coordinator for a legitimate reason, they would not even let me get a simple “sorry.”

3. Instead of the line I wanted and showed as an example, they operated on me into the exact opposite, the eye shape I said I hated (the out-line).

4. The director got agitated alone, changed his attitude, and personally attacked the patient.

5. The so-called chief director ignores me and evades responsibility even though he is the hospital’s person in charge.

6. The doctor is misogynistic and thinks revisional female patients, who are his main clientele, are mentally ill.

7. I said I did not want an out-line because it looks greasy and does not suit my face, but they made it out-line anyway. They said they would give patients the line they wanted, then operated however they pleased and insisted it became an in-line, getting angry at the patient. Even a non-doctor can tell it is an out-line….

I really hope members do not go to a place like this. It is not a place women should go.

They also have a YouTube channel here (there is a channel, but the clinic itself is small) and they are only somewhat well known on Gangnam Unni and Babi Talk. Their YouTube subscriber count and number of likes are not even that high. The clinic is not large, and it’s a place people go for eye and nose revision surgery. They seem to do a lot of fat grafting nose surgeries especially. They use ketamine or propofol for anesthesia, and who knows what they might say in the operating room.

It is located near Exit 3 of Apgujeong Station, and there are three directors there. There are many cosmetic surgery clinics around there…. I’m writing this just in case. It is not a famous large place like Dream or Hongjinjoo.

I have now had the thread-removal surgery at another hospital, and I have returned more than 90% to my original natural line. The hospital that performed the thread-removal surgery is a famous place, and the doctor is also very well known. They kept asking why I had undergone unnecessary eye muscle correction and at which hospital and by whom, given how my eyes were, but I did not reveal it.

I am currently pursuing a complaint against the doctor who harmed me personally, and I cannot reveal the hospital name or even the initials. I posted this on another forum and learned of someone who had surgery at the same place as me and suffered from side effects for years after surgery. It has been about four years, and they still have severe sausage-like swelling. They were only told to wait at the hospital;; even until the one-year warranty period ended…….

I may later add further updates about additional matters.

Please spread this widely so there are no more victims.

Thank you for reading this disorganized long post.
