Hello, I’m back after a long time.
If you look at my previous posts, I’ve been writing consistently, so if you’re curious about the changes over time or the psychology of the person going through it, I think you can read my posts from the beginning. I’ve been writing from right after the surgery up until now.
I’ll say this again, but I’m leaving this post hoping it can help even a little, since I was someone who had so many worries and was really scared.
To tell you the conclusion... I think it has returned to about 90%...? of my original nose height now. It seems like around 10% to 15% is at least still left...
I had MegaDerm 5 mm to 6 mm, I think? I had the maximum amount that could be inserted, and at the time the doctor said I absolutely had to put in a lot so I wouldn’t regret it, and I think that was right. At first, it was so high that the implant(?) actually protruded more than my forehead bone, so all I could think was that it was truly ruined. From about 3 months, it was at least okay if I wore my bangs down, and from 6 months it became somewhat presentable, then between year 1 and year 2, I think it came out as a very natural (this is the key point) and pretty nose height. It really was natural. I don’t know whether the doctor did a good job, but anyway, the advantage was that it looked very natural, and it was not sharply pointy, but had a cool, well-extended look.
As I passed year 2, I gradually felt my nasal bridge getting lower, and now it feels like... 85 to 90%? has disappeared... But what’s certain is that it hasn’t disappeared completely. Because of the ear cartilage inserted into the nasal tip, the tip became higher, and the small amount of nasal bridge that remains still looks at least acceptable.
It seems many people are considering donated dermis for revision surgery, but I’m not sure about that part. People say absorption varies by case, or only about 10 to 30% gets absorbed. All of that is nonsense. It just all gets absorbed. And the difference in absorption rate between autologous dermis and donated dermis is... (100% subjective) I see it as a difference in speed. Autologous dermis probably absorbs faster, and donated dermis probably absorbs more slowly.
Thanks to my prettier nose, my confidence in my appearance went up a lot, and I think I was able to meet a lovely girlfriend too.
After recently breaking up, I’m gradually feeling a bit of self-loathing about whether I’ll be able to meet someone new, just like my nose has gotten lower. That was TMI.
