I had been bothered by malocclusion and my lower face since childhood, and eventually decided to undergo double-jaw surgery. It has already been six months, haha. I had surgery with Dr. Kim Jong-yoon at [Clinic A], and now most of the swelling has subsided and recovery has progressed considerably, so I am living happily with the result!
Malocclusion and my lower face had always been complexes for me, and they often made me feel psychologically withdrawn. As I wrote in the title, at first I wondered whether orthodontics alone could solve the problem. After all, considering the cost, risks, and recovery period of double-jaw surgery, it is honestly a burden, T_T. But after consultation, I was told that in my case it was not simply a matter of tooth alignment or occlusion; the position of my jawbones also needed to be improved, so double-jaw surgery was necessary. At first, the cost was my biggest concern. But thinking it over, I realized that choosing another method just to save money immediately, when orthodontics alone would be difficult, could actually lead to even greater expenses. Of course, double-jaw surgery is not inexpensive, but in the long run, I thought properly receiving the treatment suited to my condition from the beginning would be the more reasonable choice in both time and money. Now that recovery is progressing satisfactorily, I feel I gained something more valuable than simply saving money, haha.
After deciding on double-jaw surgery, I visited several hospitals for consultations, and the consultation with Dr. Kim Jong-yoon at [Clinic A] was the most memorable. He explained in detail, step by step, what type of surgery was needed for my skeletal condition and how the procedure would proceed. Rather than promising only good results, he objectively pointed out my condition, which made me feel his expertise and reliability. After much deliberation, I decided to have surgery with Dr. Kim Jong-yoon!
I am now six months post-op from double-jaw surgery. There is almost no swelling, and sensation in my palate has returned by more than 80%. I can really feel how much recovery has progressed compared with the early postoperative period, so I am satisfied, haha. If you are troubled by malocclusion or your lower face like I was, I hope you accurately check whether your condition can be resolved with orthodontics alone or whether skeletal improvement is also necessary. I initially thought only about orthodontics too, so I now realize how important this is, lol. I am satisfied with my progress so far and will continue working toward a good recovery!
