After rhinoplasty, I lived each day in pain.. Right after the rhinoplasty, I thought it had gone well. But after 2 months passed, the nasal bridge became crooked and the columella also bent, making my nostrils uneven.. I think that because septal cartilage, ear cartilage, and donated costal cartilage were stacked onto my small, low nose, it couldn't withstand it and ended up bending. If it had simply been an issue with appearance, I don't think it would have been this painful.. But functional problems developed, leading to a deviated septum, one nasal airway became blocked, and many other issues such as rhinitis came along too. Even if I give way a hundred times and try to understand not being able to breathe well, my biggest pain was the headache.
A constant pulling and tightening sensation, a pulling feeling that continued from my forehead to the back of my neck. I suffered so much every day from a headache with no known cause. Since headaches can have many causes, it might not be because of the nose. So I thought I should check whether there was another cause, and I went to neurology and had a brain MRI, went to an oriental medicine clinic and got acupuncture, went to orthopedics and had a CT scan, electromyography, forward head posture correction, and so on. I went to so many hospitals. But it seemed like the cause was my nose. Yet at the university hospital, at plastic surgery clinics, and at ENT clinics, every single one said the nose and headache were not related. They said there are no cases where headaches come from nasal silicone. That's when my anxiety began. Because none of the doctors, who are the experts, gave me a clear answer, I felt so frustrated and like the sky was falling.
Being told I had to live while feeling this pain made me think it would be better not to live at all. But here in this community, while seeing people who had nasal implant removal, I realized I wasn't the only one feeling headaches, and I thought I should remove the silicone. As time passed, the headaches, foreign body sensation, pressure, and tenderness became even worse, and my decision became even firmer.
There were more than one or two times when I thought it would be better if it were just a wound visible to the eye. Every time I went to a hospital and heard specialists say that headaches and rhinoplasty were unrelated, I broke down again and again, and my anxiety grew even more. I wanted to at least find the cause, and if I knew even that, I would have waited calmly, even if I had to wait six months in pain. But now, because the pain is no longer bearable, I think the cause is my nose and plan to have it removed. Is there anyone like me who is suffering from headaches after rhinoplasty?
