I think it's been about 5 years since the surgery, and my conclusion is that I'm satisfied with life without glasses, but I can't say I recommend it 100%. Because I had severe astigmatism, I had SMILE on one eye and an implantable contact lens in the other. My satisfaction is greater with the implantable contact lens. With SMILE, depending on my eye condition, there are times when things aren't clear, but the implantable contact lens stays clear. However, after surgery I did develop floaters (I'm not sure if it's a LASIK side effect...) and dryness
