I’m currently recovering after getting revision rhinoplasty this time. I think the surgery went well, and since it hasn’t been long since the splint was removed, I do have a bit of an Avatar look, but I think the line is okay. The director said it went well, so I guess it did. It was my 5th revision surgery, so my septum had collapsed, and starting from the nostrils, it was just a collapsed nose. They showed me surgery photos of people with difficult noses like mine, and everyone had returned to a normal-looking nose.
It wasn’t a contracted nose, but after my last surgery, a large amount of scar tissue formed in my right nostril, and breathing was seriously extremely uncomfortable. A lot of the scar tissue has disappeared, and I think my breathing has improved too. There’s still swelling, so breathing properly doesn’t feel completely refreshing yet, but compared to before, I don’t have discomfort with breathing. They also restored my nostrils back to their original state. My nasal skin is thin and weak, so I had 3 skin-regeneration injections before surgery, and I received a skin graft in my right nostril. The condition inside my nose was really bad, so I was very worried, but I’m relieved they said the surgery ended well.
After surgery, there wasn’t anything hugely uncomfortable, and I think I was mostly lying down because the area where the autologous costal cartilage was harvested hurt. They say pain varies from person to person, but for me it hurt Aside from the difficulty breathing because of the cotton packing and the pain from harvesting autologous costal cartilage, I think it was tolerable.
The exact line still has swelling overall, so I think I’ll know once the swelling goes down. Compared to my previous nose, it really feels like I have a human nose now. This time, I really think the revision surgery succeeded. There will absolutely be no more revision surgery in the future.
