Because of that, I felt like it made me look unnecessarily more masculine, and even when I styled my hair or clothes in a feminine way, it didn’t suit me, which was so stressful.. So until last year I had only been looking up rhinoplasty, then I finally made up my mind and got the surgery.
When I was only researching rhinoplasty online, I saw that if the hump is severe, they do osteotomy, and if not, they just shave it down a bit. But no matter which clinic I went to for consultations.... they all said I needed osteotomy I was worried that osteotomy would make recovery slower and pain worse, but I was also afraid that if I had surgery without osteotomy, it might not be corrected properly and I wouldn’t be satisfied, so I decided to get hump osteotomy as the clinic recommended. (Dermis was also used together.)
It was my first cosmetic surgery, and I’m originally the type to worry a lot.. so I was really nervous on the day of surgery, you know? Still, after hearing the explanation before surgery at the clinic, checking the design again, and going under anesthesia, it felt like the surgery was over quickly. Honestly, I guess this is true for any surgery, but cosmetic surgery isn’t over just because you’ve had the operation. Especially with the nose, the cotton packing and splint make it a bit stuffy and hard (The clinic where I had surgery removed the splint after 7 days, but they said this varies by clinic, so just take it as reference.)
And after the splint is removed and you look at the nose shape, you start wondering things like: How will the shape change once the swelling goes down from here? Are both nostril sizes matched well? Can I blow my nose now? and so on.. The questions just keep pouring out. When I went to have the splint removed, I asked the clinic everything I was curious about, and even outside follow-up checks, I contacted the consultant and asked about various things. I think it was a relief that the consultant first told me I could contact her comfortably..
Since I even had osteotomy, I had not only expectations for the surgery but also a lot of anxiety, but after 2–3 weeks passed, the major swelling went down and I could clearly see that my nasal bridge had become smooth, which was nice. The image that used to look characteristically masculine because of the hump also changed, and at first I was debating whether to correct only the hump, but the director said I had somewhat of a nasal bridge, so raising the nasal tip in proportion would probably look prettier. Thanks to that advice, I raised the tip using septal cartilage and ear cartilage, and in the end, I think I did really well by doing that. If I hadn’t raised the nasal tip, I think I actually would have been less satisfied.. haha
But when I looked at other people’s reviews, I saw people saying that even at 2–3 months, swelling keeps going down and the nose settles into place. For me, it’s only been about a month now, so I still need to wait a little longer for it to settle, right? I like my nose shape, so I hope it doesn’t change too much from here haha
