<Left side of surgically altered nose>After<Left side after removal><Front view of surgically altered nose>After<Front view after removal>Eight years ago, I had a naturally bulbous nose and only wanted to reduce my nostril wings, but after just one consultation at one large plastic surgery clinic, I went straight ahead with surgery.
The surgical method I was told at the time was 1 mm silicone + ear cartilage + osteotomy + cartilage tying. For 1-2 years after surgery, I was satisfied with my reduced nostril wings and higher nasal bridge, but as time passed, I realized the silicone was crooked and moved when touched, and more and more people would ask if I had had a nose job when they saw me from the side. I also increasingly heard that my nose was getting bigger and that only my nose stood out. Also, because the silicone had shifted to the left, the inner side of my left eye felt uncomfortable too, and when I lay down to sleep, my nose felt heavy and was always blocked, so for nearly two years I used nasal spray every day.
I felt that if I delayed any longer, a bigger problem might develop in my nose, so I decided to have everything removed. The ear cartilage was removed as well, and to keep the nasal tip from spreading too much, I had simple cartilage repositioning. The surgery was done by a director who mainly specializes in removal.
After removal, the silicone I had been told was 1-2 mm was actually 5-6 mm, and the silicone really had shifted a lot to the left. Because of that, a lot of capsule had formed on the left side of the nasal bridge, and it was all removed. Other than slight pain and stiffness only when touching the left side of the nasal bridge because of the capsule removal, I am recovering without any major pain.
One week after removal, my impression of my nose is that it feels less spread out than my original nose, and compared with my original nose, it still has a slightly “surgical-looking(?)” feel. The height between my eyebrows seems like it will be somewhere between my original nose and my surgically altered nose.
The best part is that the heavy feeling in my nose and nasal congestion are gone haha. I’m also looking forward to the nasal tip looking slimmer once more swelling goes down~ I hope everyone makes a good choice.
