I heard the recovery period after double eyelid surgery is really important, so I’ve been resting at home like I’m recuperating, but I’m sooo bored, so I’ll just write down the places I went for consultations.. Honestly, it’s not even really a review, just me rambling about my experience..
Pre-op eyes - I do have epicanthal folds, but people around me said they aren’t very noticeable unless someone points them out? When I looked at photos of people who got canthoplasty, they looked too unnatural to me, so I didn’t want it.. Last year, I also followed a friend around to consultations at the biggest hospital in Gangnam, but there I got overwhelmed by the crowds and felt drained, so this time I wanted to go to a one-doctor clinic or a smaller place.. Maybe that’s because my personality is triple aaaa
Apgujeong ㅇㄹ is a one-doctor clinic, so when I made the appointment by phone I didn’t request anyone separately. When booking ㅇㄴㅂ, they have two directors, so I was wondering who I should see, but in consultation reviews other people here posted, a lot of them went to Director ㅈㅊㅎ, so when I called I asked them to book me that way ㅇㅇ
When I went for the consultation, I strongly emphasized that my goal was to get double eyelid surgery as naturally as possible!!!★★★ (If anyone else is going for consultations, I recommend not holding back your own opinion for no reason and being clear about things like this.. I’m also the extremely AAA type who can’t really speak up, but I did say this..)
Because I have a lot of eyelid fat, I preferred non-incisional over incisional, but both ㅇㄹ and ㅇㄴㅂ, where I went for consultations, recommended incisional.. I also asked whether I could do non-incisional while removing fat, but they said fat shouldn’t just be removed carelessly ㅇㅇ.. They said each person has a surgical method that suits them, and not to just follow what others do..
Honestly, if the clinic had just said, “Yes, yes, do it the way you want~,” I might have foolishly gone, “Yes yes hehe,” and done it that way.. (Of course, I don’t know much about surgery..) But instead, the director explained again that that wasn’t right, so I actually started wondering, “Is that so?” and while I felt concern and doubt about the surgery, my expectations for the double eyelid surgery also naturally grew.
Anyway, since all the clinics told me to do incisional.. I decided to do incisional ㅇㅇ.. At ㅇㄹ, they said they would do a swelling laser every time I came for post-op progress checks, so I trusted that one thing (Actually, I also liked that they provide AS for 3 years and that I could see the director every time..) and went through with the surgery.
Honestly, the price came out higher than I had expected, so I was flustered but if the surgery goes well, what does the price matter.... Other people think about price, fail, and end up needing revision surgery, so the cost doubles. When I thought about that, I concluded it’s much better for the surgery to go well from the start!!!! (Everyone thinks differently, so if price is more important to you.. hmm.. try going to more consultations..)
I had surgery where they made only the double eyelid line with an incisional method, and I didn’t do ptosis correction or canthoplasty at all ㅇㅇ I also told the director I didn’t want them, and because my epicanthal folds aren’t severe, he said if I don’t want them, it’s right not to do them (even for my own satisfaction ^^)
Yesterday I went to the clinic and got my eyes disinfected, and honestly even then I was worried it might hurt because something like an alcohol swab would touch my eyes.. But it wasn’t painful enough to make me go, “Ah!” It’s more like a slight sting? I think that’s how it feels. I also got the swelling laser I’d heard about before surgery! It felt like about 10 minutes.. Embarrassing to say, but before surgery I honestly wondered, “Isn’t this going to hurt too???” but it didn’t hurt at all
Up until yesterday, when I closed and opened my eyes, I felt a bit uncomfortable and heavy, but day by day it’s getting easier to open my eyes. The swelling is also less severe than I expected, so I’m not even wearing the non-prescription horn-rimmed glasses I bought to cover it As I’m writing this, it feels less like a consultation review and more like a surgery review.. but I thought this kind of review might help everyone too, so I’m writing it.
Luckily, I can rest completely all week this week, so I’ve just been lying at home like I’m recuperating, but once the sun goes down, I’m trying hard to go for walks diligently. Now that I’ve had the surgery, management is up to me! Other than walking, enzymes, and compresses, if anyone has tips for reducing swelling quickly, please let me know, everyone~~
