Hello. I’m posting this for people who, like me, are having nosebleeds after surgery, or for those who are thinking about cosmetic surgery.
I did not have silicone inserted, and only had nasal bridge osteotomy and nasal tip surgery (using ear cartilage).

I had never had a nosebleed even once in my life, and I was a man in my early 30s.
Days 2-3 When I woke up, nosebleed started coming out as if a tap had been turned on. The hospital said my mucous membrane was on the weaker side and that it would get better with time.
Days 4-8 The nosebleed started bursting out even worse than before.. Even when I tried emergency hemostasis (putting tissue into the nostril and pressing the nasal ala area for a few seconds), the bleeding exploded through the tissue or gauze. To the point that a whole trash bin’s worth of tissues was soaked with nosebleed..) At dawn, my nosebleed kept going for 3-4 hours without stopping, so I contacted the hospital, but they did not answer, so I went to the emergency room. It was really hard to find an emergency room in Gangnam with an otolaryngology specialist. Even at dawn, there were many emergency patients, so I waited in the ER for 3 hours while bleeding from my nose before I could receive care. The ENT director in the emergency room said it was difficult to touch because it was not a surgery he had performed, so even though Merocel was already inside my nose, he added more Merocel (a hemostatic sponge) to the front part of my nostril.. Less than 3 minutes later, the nosebleed burst out again, but I could not receive any response.
Day 9 The nosebleed burst out every 2-3 hours. I had no energy, and my eyes were red and bloodshot. At the hospital, after sleep anesthesia, I underwent electrocautery.
Day 10 Even though I had undergone electrocautery, the nosebleed burst out again. The most painful thing about having nosebleeds was that while sleeping, blood would go down my throat and I had to keep swallowing saliva, but there was so much blood that I could not sleep. And blood clots were stuck inside my throat, so when I opened my tongue/mouth to look, there were strands that looked like blood vessels. When I pulled those strands, three of those unbelievably large blood clots started coming out. I felt like I was going to faint, and the house was always filled with the smell of blood..
Day 11 I lost 8 kg, and I became unable to live normally. When I took the bus, when I ate, my nosebleed would burst out.. Blood would overflow inside my mask, and each time that happened I contacted the hospital, took a taxi there, and they stopped the bleeding. This time they did local anesthesia and did an endoscopy, and they said there are two types of nosebleeds. Anterior epistaxis (when bleeding occurs from the front part of the nose), and posterior epistaxis (when bleeding occurs from the back part of the nose). In my case, it was posterior epistaxis, and they performed electrocautery again on the posterior area. At that time, it was not sleep anesthesia, and because it was deep inside, there were also areas that were not anesthetized, so every time they cauterized with electricity, it hurt so much that I broke out in a cold sweat and could not stop crying.. It really hurt...
Around day 13 The nosebleed would not stop until dawn, and thankfully, at dawn a nurse and doctor from the hospital came to the hospital for me. After checking with an endoscope, they said that even among posterior epistaxis cases, I had bleeding on the arterial vessel side. When they did local anesthesia and inserted gauze toward the artery, I felt pain several thousand times worse than anything I had felt until then. In the end, I went into shock, my blood pressure dropped, and I told the doctor I felt like I was going to faint. They told me not to close my eyes, so I opened my eyes wide, and because I couldn’t breathe well, I exhaled deeply and raised my legs upward. Thankfully, my blood pressure and lip color returned. Even thinking about it now, I cannot forget that pain, and I think it hurt 10 times more than when I was in a traffic accident as a child.
Days 14-15 I was scared the nosebleed would burst out again, so I was hospitalized in the hospital ward for 2 days, but thankfully the nosebleed stopped. *I have also been consistently drinking lotus root juice. I heard that the tannin component in lotus root helps stop nosebleeds and calms inflammation.
During that period, as an office worker, I could not go to work because of the nosebleed, and it was hard to go outside, so it was extremely difficult.ㅠㅠ And because my nose was always packed full of cotton, I had no appetite or desire to eat, and my throat was so dry I felt like I was going to die.. Even now, they say they do not know why there was bleeding on the arterial side. (Still, since the nosebleed occurred after surgery, I think a problem occurred during the surgery period.) Even now, I am suffering from aftereffects, worrying that a nosebleed will burst out when I wake up from sleep. While bleeding from my nose for such a long time, I searched a lot in a community and on Google. There were symptoms similar to mine, but there were not many reviews.
There are two types of nosebleeds. 1. Anterior epistaxis (bleeding from the front part of the nose) -> Most nosebleeds after rhinoplasty are from the anterior area, so they get better with time.
2. Posterior epistaxis (bleeding from deep inside the nose) -> Posterior epistaxis is bleeding from deep inside the nose, so it is not easy to stop. Because hemostasis is possible through an endoscope, it is difficult to stop the bleeding yourself. If, after rhinoplasty, you feel nosebleed flowing down your throat while sleeping or normally, or if a nosebleed continues for more than 30 minutes, please make sure to visit the hospital ㅠㅠ If there is a blood clot or something caught in your throat, you must never swallow it and must spit it out..
-> Before surgery, please do not take supplements such as omega-3 or aspirin starting one month beforehand. In my case, I did not take those supplements, but bleeding still occurred..
And beauty is important too, but please have surgery at a hospital where a doctor or nurse is present 24 hours a day.. Please... If it is hard to contact the hospital outside business hours, then if something happens, it is difficult to go to the emergency room and difficult to receive emergency treatment.
And in my case, the nurses and doctor tried hard to take care of me. Thankfully, it was a hospital with only one director, so I was able to receive continuous care, and thanks to that, the nosebleed has now stopped. If I have nosebleeds later, the doctor promised to care for me until the end, and if the shape was altered during this treatment period, they said they would care for that as well. (I did not receive a refund for the surgery cost, and they told me to claim the ER cost, so I got that back.)
There are many questions in this community like “My nosebleed is gushing out” and “Nosebleed is flowing down my throat,” but there do not seem to be answers or reviews, so I’m posting this. This is only my personal opinion and what I felt. Posterior epistaxis does not happen to everyone just because they get rhinoplasty, but I’m posting in case it helps people who are worrying about symptoms like mine.
