<Because of comments calling me a broker, I looked it up and found the reservation deposit transfer record, so I’m attaching it ^^>My college-student older sister was really interested in plastic surgery when I was in high school, so I already knew all the shortcomings of my face in my late teens. In my second year of high school, I had incisional double eyelid surgery + epicanthoplasty, and even right before going under anesthesia before the surgery, I still remember the doctor saying, “If you get surgery, it’ll be a huge success for you ^^^^ You’ll be sooo pretty,” even though that was 17 years ago. I was what people commonly call a case where the eyes turned out amazingly well, and after eye surgery, no matter what circle or group I went into, I could be included in the group of “the pretty girls in our ~~.”
So after I went to university, my only interest was appearance, and in my early 20s, I had implants for a retruded chin and my forehead. All the friends and older girls around me had a lot of plastic surgery, and among them, the people who had facial contouring were really cases that absolutely needed contouring. The older girls who had quite a lot of surgery were all of the mindset that even if you do everything, don’t touch the bones, so when I said, “I want to do my cheekbonesㅠㅠ,” everyone would ask if I was crazy and whether those cheekbones were even severe cheekbones. I guess back then, around 2007~2012 especially, there were so many side-effect cases from facial contouring, quick cheekbone reduction, double-jaw surgery, and contouring surgery, so among people around me, the mood was that if a fairly pretty girl did it just to become prettier, it was a surgery with a lot to lose.
So I completely gave up the idea of making my face look cleaner, and after age 25, I was so busy working that I didn’t even have time to scrutinize my face and think, “How could I become prettier?” ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ Because of my job, I sometimes have to take photos or videos, and every time, my cheekbone desire would always start rumbling again, but since bone surgery = something you must not do anyway, I would think, “Ugh, I dislike everything, but there’s nothing I can do,” and move on. Then for about 2 years, I had frequent occasions to film videos, and when I did, you know how all I could see were my cheekbonesㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ Then I was watching YouTube, and a plastic surgery channel came up in the algorithm, so I happened to watch it, and surprisingly it was fun. So I thought, “Hmm... wow, do people do facial contouring this much these days...?” And I had lived in the provinces all my life, then happened to see it about 4 months after moving to Seoul... I thought, “Ah, back when I had surgery in Seoul, I took the train so many times... hotel fees, KTX fees... for consultations, surgery, stitch removal, follow-ups, ugh~~~ my younger self had amazing passion ㅜㅜ,” and naturally started thinking, “If I had surgery now, it would be no big deal...” Then somehow I came across Dr. Baek Jung-hwan’s YouTube. After watching a few times, I thought, “Hmm...? Cheekbone surgery might be worth trying?” I was so busy with work that I would only look it up occasionally on weekends when I remembered, and after 3~4 months, I thought, “Hmm...? I just want to ask this person whether I’m a surgical case. Hmm... I’ll ask this person, and if he says I’m a surgical case, I’ll definitely do it. If he tells me not to, then I won’t have even one speck of lingering regret.” That’s what I started thinking.
I had an in-person consultation, and in a very short time, he understood my face accurately. Actually, my midface had never been touched, and my face is the kind where if you touch one thing, you sort of have to touch everything, but then you wonder whether it’s really necessary to touch everything. Still, if everything were done, it definitely would be prettier, but it would be a huge project.
He said cheekbone surgery was worth trying, and I booked right away. He did speak much more coldly than he seems on YouTube, but I think any ordinary adult with social experience, who simply understands who gains or loses from saying certain things, can immediately understand the intention behind what he says.
When I had surgery when I was young, I recovered pretty quickly, but now that I’m older, I thought, “Recovery from swelling and things like that won’t be like when I was young, right?” I took a week off work because of the surgery, and because it had been so long since I rested, after the surgery I really did not do even one thing that is supposedly good for swelling, like compresses, walks, or pumpkin juice. I genuinely only slept. Not sleeping sitting up, really just because I had to take medicine, I ate porridge and slept, ate porridge and slept, ate porridge and slept. On days 3~4, I was so swollen that I thought, “To get the swelling down, I should sit up a bit now...ㅠㅠ” That’s how I felt, but I was so sleepy and just wanted to sleep, so I thought, “Whatever,” and just kept sleepingㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ But I had surgery on Saturday and got my facial stitches removed the following Friday. From the morning of stitch removal, I thought, “Oh, the swelling has gone down a lot,” and from the moment they removed the stitches at the clinic, it really went down even faster, like the speed of light. On day 7, when I met someone wearing a mask, talked, and had a conversation, they said there was not even 1 bit of a feeling that something was strange or awkwardㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ By days 9~10, people knew I had plastic surgery but didn’t know what surgery I had. They really could not imagine at all that I had facial contouring surgery. I heard “You look reaaally younger” the most. Because of swelling around the mouth, people thought I had filler or fat grafting in my cheeks or around there.
After surgery, when the anesthesia hadn’t worn off and my eyes kept closing, I looked in the mirror first. I wanted to see the line before swelling set in, and at that moment I was already like, nice. Right after surgery, before swelling, I could immediately see the 45-degree cheekbone line. It had gone in nicely. ㅋㅋㅋㅋ As soon as I left the clinic, I FaceTimed my biological older sister, and she was really amazed tooㅋㅋㅋ She said, “Wow, your cheekbones are smooth” ㅋㅋㅋ After that, the swelling just keeps puffing up endlessly. I don’t have tingling or anything with sensation, and I have a job where I talk a lot, but there’s no discomfort. Return to daily life is very fast. I also think this is because the surgery was done well.
I’m planning to do my nose here too, but right now it’s hard to take a week off work ㅜㅜ It seems I’ll only be able to do my nose around summer vacation.
I don’t think, “I should have just done everything when I was young since I’d end up doing it anyway.” I think it was good that I didn’t do it back then, and that it was good to have surgery with this doctor now, with techniques that have improved even more. And I’m so grateful to my mom, who foamed at the mouth and stopped me from casually considering procedures like fat grafting and fillers when I was young. At the time, I really couldn’t understand it, but even though I encountered plastic surgery at a young age, I’ve never had even the common filler once. My mom’s mindset was, “Just get surgery instead,” ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
If anyone in their 20s is reading this, I want to say that maybe you don’t have to create a completed face in your 20s, and that leaving something for yourself so you can enjoy becoming prettier over time isn’t bad either.
If anyone in their 30s is here, you’re still in your prime and can still be pretty, so if you keep thinking, “At this point, what...” while that rumbling desire for facial contouring comes up here and there from time to time, I recommend just going for it now under a specialist’s opinion. ^^
+ Every time I go here, there is exactly one male nurse who gives the most pleasant care. On the first day of surgery, after I changed clothes and was guided, a male nurse guided me when I went into the operating room. When I entered, the anesthesiologist was there too, so maybe that’s why, but I immediately had the feeling, “Why does it feel like there are so many male staff here...” After surgery, during dressing, when removing facial stitches, and when removing the stitches inside my mouth, this person always takes care of me, and with a smiling face, he is the only one at this clinic who makes me feel very comfortable every time I go! So if anyone like me thinks, “Hmm, why does it feel like there are so many male staff?” absolutely no no, I like it muuuch more!!
