I went for SMILE LASIK, but they said my corneas were too thin and that only LASEK was possible. I didn’t know anything and just had the surgery.
Day 1 - It didn’t hurt right after surgery, but as time passed it hurt like crazy.
Day 2 - Just hell. I couldn’t even open my eyes and only kept tearing up. I don’t know if the intraocular pressure in my eyes had gone up, but I even got a headache. If I saw even a little light, it felt like I was burning up like a vampire. I had to turn off all the lights and stay shut in my room. The funny thing is that even with all the lights off, my eyes kept stinging as if it were dazzling. Sunglasses are absolutely essential. Just completely essential. Without them, you live in pain.
Day 3/Day 4 - Same condition as day 2. They said I shouldn’t cry, but it hurt so much that I sobbed while talking on the phone with my older sister.
Day 5 - Wearing sunglasses, I was able to come out to the living room for the first time in 4 days.
Day 6 - What? Suddenly I could open my eyes fully. I could just look at light. I could look at my phone too. My eyes didn’t hurt even 1 bit. But my eyes were dry like crazy. I used up an entire box of single-use artificial tears in one week.
Year 2 - My eyeballs are still dry and get tired often. But I can live without artificial tears. Instead, in winter I’m dead without them.
