First of all, I had a hump nose + arrow-shaped nose. If I took a side-profile photo like in the picture, I instantly looked like Shin Hyun-joon + Seo Kyung-seok. So forget the side-profile shots everyone else takes, I was stressed even by other people looking at my nose. So in the end, I just got surgery.
Honestly, I thought nose surgery was as dangerous as double-jaw surgery, so I wanted to get filler on the bridge of my nose to make it smoother, but I heard it would make my nose look even longer, so I started looking for a place that was good at surgery. I knew absolutely nothing about plastic surgery, installed a plastic surgery app, and only looked up surgery reviews from people with hump noses.
To be honest, I’m not a sensitive person. I’m the type who thinks, even if it turns out badly, as long as I don’t die during surgery or get inflammation, it’s fine. Even if a delivery comes wrong, if it’s not too weird, I don’t ask for a refund or exchange. Maybe because of that, I picked plastic surgery clinics pretty casually, just from what I saw. I went to 3 places in total: ㅊㅇ, ㅋㅇ, ㄹㅁㅊ.
The first place I went to was ㅋㅇ. The director said we should lift the nasal tip. But if we lifted it the way the director said, I felt like it would just become a pig nose. So I asked, “Won’t it become a pig nose?” and they said that if it’s matched to my lips, chin, and so on, that wouldn’t be a pig nose. They also hit me with a lot of brutally honest comments. At the time, I was tired of going around to clinics, so I just put down a deposit there and left.
My mom told me to go for consultations at other clinics too, so I had no choice and went to the second clinic, ㄹㅁㅊ in Jamsil. While I was waiting, I looked at photos and the noses were too flashy. I didn’t want a thin, sharp-looking nose. I just wanted to improve the hump and have a straight nose, so I had a rough consultation and left. Also, it seemed like the director had mixed their manners into breakfast and eaten them that morning.
Finally, I went to the last place, ㅊㅇ. It’s in the same building as the first clinic. When I entered the clinic, the interior was the nicest out of all the places I had gone to. They were also the kindest. I majored in service and work in the service industry, and honestly, the staff service was perfect.
Anyway, during the consultation here, the director said, “You’ve already heard all the explanations at the other clinics, right?” and explained while roughly drawing my nose. But honestly, even though I’d had 2 consultations already, I still didn’t understand what they were talking about. So I lied and said, “This is my first clinic.” Then they explained it again. It felt like getting tutoring from a student at a prestigious university.
They asked if I brought photos of the nose I wanted, so I showed them a straight, natural-looking nose. After seeing the photos, the director told me how they would do the surgery. First, they said I didn’t need silicone at all. All 3 clinics did not recommend silicone. They said that because my nose was already high, if they shaved down the hump and inserted silicone, it could become smooth but cause the disaster of making my nose look even longer. So I said okay.
In the end, we decided on implant-free surgery and lifting the nasal tip with septal cartilage. They said if there wasn’t enough septal cartilage, they would use ear cartilage. After the consultation with the director ended, I talked with the consultant, and her way with words was no joke. She completely drew you in. On top of that, she was pretty, so I got even more absorbed.
Anyway, this was the last clinic, and the time came to decide. The consultant asked if I was going to do it, so I said I’d think about it for 5 minutes. She said to take my time and left. After thinking it over while talking with my mom on the phone, I decided to just do it here. I got my deposit back from ㅋㅇ and scheduled the surgery date that day.
On the day of surgery, I waited quite a long time. The surgery was at 10, but I went in at 12. They told me to stay in the recovery room, so I went there, and it was a private room with a sofa where a guardian could sit, and it looked nice. It didn’t feel real, so I played games for 2 hours.
When I went in for surgery at 12, I thought I’d go straight in, but in some room they drew on my nose. I was so nervous I felt like I was going to die, but music was playing, so I just sang along without thinking. Since this might be the last song I ever sing, I just sang it in my mind.
I went into the operating room and lay down. They fixed my arms and legs in place, and the nurse said they would just give me a little sleep anesthesia, so I thought it was starting. I got groggy, then my eyes opened. The nurse asked, “Are you okay?” so I said yes and thought, oh, is it over? But then the director came in through the door. I wondered why they were coming in when it was over, but it turned out they had only given me a small amount briefly. Then the nurse said, “You’ll fall asleep again~” and I fell asleep.
When I opened my eyes, it was over, and I walked to the recovery room. I looked at the time and it was 5... My mom said she thought I was going to die. The director came to the recovery room and said the bleeding wouldn’t stop, so they had a bit of a hard time. I was on my period that day, and I’m the type whose bleeding doesn’t stop easily.
That was the story from the day of surgery, and the splint removal and things like that were the same as everyone else. At ㅊㅇ, they said the directors only do 1 to 2 surgeries per person per day and spend the remaining time on consultations, so I wondered how long the surgeries must take for that to be the case, but just mine took half a day. Anyway, it felt trustworthy.
On the day the splint came off, my nasal tip was honestly too high, so I didn’t like it. But as one month, two months, and three months passed, my nose got slimmer and the nasal tip also came down. I’m at 6 months now, and I’m so satisfied. These days, I only take side-profile photos, the kind I had wanted to take so badly.
I guess ㅊㅇ itself pursues a natural look. I looked it up because I wanted to see if I had chosen the clinic well, and it seems like a lot of people with hump noses go there, or people go there because they want a natural result. I really don’t like flashy noses that look sharp from the side, have a ski-slope curve, and are thin. A nose that is straight, not sharp, and just has the hump well corrected...? I wanted a nose that didn’t look obvious at all, and they made it exactly like that.
From about 2 months after surgery, it really started to not look obvious, and now that it’s been 6 months, no one knows unless I tell them. I’m so satisfied. They keep checking my progress consistently too, and honestly, if I could, I’d bow to the director a hundred times.
The reason I’m posting this is that I really want to recommend this clinic. I’m scared I’ll be suspected of being a broker, but I’m posting because I think it will really help people with hump noses like me. I also learned a lot from posts like this on apps and chose my clinic that way..!
