<Original nose><Post-surgery nose>After<Day 5 after removal>I had everything removed on March 17, and today I went in to have the splint removed and taping done.
I live outside the Seoul area, so it wasn’t easy to go all the way to Seoul for consultations. Should I get it removed.. if I remove it, will it go back.. even if it’s removed well, I felt like I’d mentally fall apart if the contraction phase came, so I thought about it a lot and it was really hard. I’m writing this in the hope that it might help anyone who is struggling like I was or is considering removal.
I think the biggest reason I decided on removal was that my nasal tip was drooping like a bird’s beak. Besides that, I could feel the septum on one side of the nasal tip, I couldn’t breathe well through one side, there was a foreign-body sensation & pressure at the nasal tip, an arrow-like nose when smiling, a nose that had become too high, and because it was drooping, it looked like a long nose even from the front.. etc. The shape wasn’t pretty enough to put up with all that discomfort, so I think that’s why I decided to remove it. Since the biggest reason for removal was ultimately dissatisfaction with the shape, I’m also very worried about what if, after a few months, I don’t like it again. (Still, I really, really hate the foreign-body sensation, so I don’t think I’ll get revision surgery.)
It hasn’t been long, but what I like after removal is that I don’t feel that characteristic foreign-body sensation from the septal cartilage at all. At first, because of the splint and stitches, I couldn’t really tell, but now it seems okay. And the side I couldn’t breathe well through also seems to breathe well like before!
Maybe because it’s day 5, the side of the nasal bridge?? when seen from the front still feels puffy. I didn’t have a hump, but when they seated the silicone, they shaved the nasal bridge, so I’m anxious that maybe the bridge has become broad and flat because of that.. They said there is some shaving, but it isn’t something to worry about, so I’m just hoping it’s because of swelling ㅠㅠ
The swelling is really stressing me out ㅠㅠ For those who had removal, after about how long did your swelling feel completely gone?
