Before removing the braces, in the case of full orthodontic treatment, they attach a wire retainer behind the upper 6 teeth and lower 6 teeth; depending on the case it could be 8 teeth, but mostly it's 6. You wear this for life. So even after orthodontic treatment ends, you have to live with a wire appliance attached for life behind the teeth where it can't be seen. Additionally, for about half a year to one year after orthodontic treatment ends, separate from the wire retainer, you also have to wear a regular retainer all day.
There are really a lot of inconvenient points, right? Orthodontic treatment is something you really need to consider carefully. Everyone else is doing it, so I should too? I really don't recommend thinking like that. And unless you're someone whose upper and lower front teeth are especially protruded, so correcting them would really seem likely to change the face, there won't be a major change to the face. Rather, the facial contour stays the same, but as the teeth move inward, the cheeks can look sunken or the nasolabial folds can become deeper.. I really hope you consider it carefully before doing it~
