My original nose: relatively high nasal bridge, had a hump, slightly bulbous nose
Surgical nose: hump shaving, 2.5 mm silicone, septal extension, bulbous nose correction (I was told it was about removing some skin)
Removed on day 17 after surgery
Reason for removal: pressure sensation, pain, hardness, discomfort, and psychological reasons
It probably would have gotten better with time, but I felt scared by the thought that I would have to live with some level of discomfort
I had the removal done at the hospital where I had the surgery, and the reason was
Even if I had it done at a removal-specialized clinic, they would not know the surgical method better than the doctor who performed the surgery, and I worried that they would have to dig through my nose that much more thoroughly to inspect everything, which might burden my nose Also, the director who did my surgery said removal would not be difficult, early removal would take about 15 minutes, and if I removed it later after 6 months, it would take about 30 minutes So I thought getting the removal surgery from the doctor who operated on me would finish the fastest and remove everything properly After I asked for removal, the surgeon’s attitude was like he did not really want to talk much with me, and he clearly showed that he was upset If you ask for removal, from the doctor’s standpoint it may feel like their pride in the surgery is being hurt, so their attitude may not be friendly, but still, do not worry too much about it!!
He scared me with all kinds of things, saying he could not take responsibility for complications after surgery, that a large scar would remain, that the shaved hump area would be bumpy, that pain could continue even after removal, and so on But after I previously had a consultation at a removal-specialized clinic, I became confident that my nose would return to a state similar to before so I decided to have the removal done by the surgeon who operated on me Also, since the suturing was very well done during the first surgery, I was not too worried about scarring even after removal
I also signed a written pledge saying I would not file complaints after the removal surgery The price was free!
Maybe because he did not really want to talk much with me, I did not hear a detailed explanation about the surgical details on the day of removal but a few days earlier, when I had the stitches removed, I had a consultation with the director for almost 30 minutes? and that relieved some of my worries about the removal surgery, and he seemed to think of the removal as not difficult, and he said he would help the cartilage settle back into place to some extent (I do not know if this means cartilage repositioning), so I decided to trust him and stopped asking
Surgery: open approach It was sedation anesthesia, and right before surgery he looked at my nose and said, “Your nose shape is pretty though...” lol I said please take good care of me and fell asleep right away... The surgery took about 45 minutes Excluding time for disinfection, tidying up, and things like that, the surgery itself ended even faster When I look at other people’s removal surgery times, they are over an hour and a half, but maybe because mine was done by the person who performed the original surgery, it really seems to have ended quickly This is a big advantage in that respect Maybe the anesthesia was light too, because after staying in the recovery room for about 5 minutes, I came to my senses enough to take the subway home
After surgery: Only on the day itself it stung a bit and hurt, and after taking painkillers it was okay From the next day, I barely felt any pain It was swollen, but seeing my own nose again made me so happy.. My nose like Winnie the Pooh is just cute, so why did I torment it like this? I felt so sorry and I was grateful that it held up well ㅠㅠ It swelled into almost the same shape as during my first surgery For the nasal bridge, the area where the silicone was removed felt like an empty space and went in when pressed softly And it felt a bit shorter than before and also felt upturned, but I thought it was probably because of swelling and let it pass, and just the fact that I had removed it gave me relief, so my mind was at ease I was told to wear the splint for about a week I only took a half-day off in the morning the day after surgery and went to work from the afternoon!! Only the nasal tip was swollen, my face was not swollen at all, there was no pain, and the splint only reached below the eyes, so it was fully covered by a mask
One week after surgery: I tend to have swelling go down very quickly, and I think I recover fast Even during my first surgery, I did not have much swelling After one week passed, the nasal tip swelling went down much more and it became smaller After about 3 days, the soft feeling in the nasal bridge where the silicone had been removed was all gone, and I could feel my own bone It still seems swollen sideways, maybe the swelling has moved to the sides of my nose
Comparison with my natural nose: Maybe because I had bulbous nose correction, the nasal tip is slimmer than before, and the nasal tip is slightly higher According to the director, because it had been fixed in a raised position for 2 weeks, the nasal tip can become a bit higher Before, my nostrils were not visible, but now my nostrils are a bit visible, but not to the point that it bothers me, and although it changed a little, it feels okay Maybe it is just my impression, but the nasal bridge also feels slightly slimmer The scar is also less noticeable than I expected, and it seems like in a few months it will barely show Since the septal support placed at the columella is gone, it is much more comfortable and the pressure sensation has disappeared When I press the columella, it goes in, and I can definitely feel that it has been removed The nasal tip is hard ㅠㅠ The director said this is because of scar tissue I am thinking it will get better after a few months The nasal tip is hard, but if I stay still, I do not notice it at all Maybe it is because it has become so much more comfortable compared to before It still stings and pulls sometimes, but I am grateful that it turned out to this extent The nostril sizes are different on both sides, but the swelling has not fully gone down yet, and I am just going to accept that much!
Care: Just like after the first surgery, I took antibiotics for one week, and I applied eye ointment (antibiotic ointment) After removing the splint, I have just been taping it myself to shape it lol From now on, I plan to sleep like this every evening for about a month!!
If there are people considering surgery, I hope you think enough about possible complications after surgery! I only worried after surgery, so I had a really hard time emotionally ㅠㅠ Before surgery, when I looked at reviews on apps like ㅂㅂㅌ and ㄱㄴㅇㄴ, I only saw the good points, but after coming here, I realized that cosmetic surgery is truly a big decision!
And I only thought about becoming prettier after surgery, and did not know it would become this uncomfortable in daily life I learned a lot that from now on, I should always think enough before making big decisions ㅠㅠ I am never going to let a knife touch my body again!!! Getting on the operating table was really scary.. It was such a difficult experience, but now after removal, I feel so relieved and my heart has healed a lot I also realized that I myself am more important than how I appear to others ㅠㅠ
I hope my post becomes a chance for people planning surgery to think one more time, and I hope it helps even a little for people considering early removal or complete removal
