I got Contoura LASIK at a clinic that started under 2 million won and was known by word of mouth for being good at Contoura LASIK and LASEK.
Right afterward, my vision came out around 1.2, but do they not aim for very high vision these days?? (curious) When I look at people who did it 10 or 5 years ago, they said they even got up to 2.0.. Anyway, it’s been about 6 months now, and I’m still maintaining 1.2 well!
▶ [Q1. What are Contoura LASIK and Contoura LASEK?] It comes up well if you search on Naver, so I’ll just explain what kind of people it’s good for!
They say people with astigmatism or glare/halos get especially good vision-correction effects.
I originally had severe glare/halos, and my astigmatism wasn’t severe, but when they took a corneal topography scan with the machine, it showed that the curvature was uneven and that I had astigmatism, so I decided on Contoura. (=I originally visited while also considering things like SMILE LASIK? SMILE LASEK.)
▶ [Q2. Side effects?] There weren’t really any side effects to speak of. My glare/halos were originally severe, so there wasn’t anything like them getting worse after LASIK, and I’m satisfied in every aspect. But I do feel a little disappointed, wishing my vision had been corrected a bit better.
Right after LASIK surgery, my vision was 1.2, and except for some stinging after the corneal strengthening procedure, the LASIK surgery itself didn’t hurt, so I could return to daily life 100% right afterward! For office workers like me who need to return to daily life quickly, LASIK would be better, right?
▶ [Q3. Why I chose LASIK, not LASEK?] Since LASIK removes a lot of corneal tissue once you do it, I originally visited thinking about doing LASEK because of concerns about future revision surgery and safety against impact? and things like that, but LASEK required avoiding UV rays for a while and the aftercare was complicated. So since my corneal thickness was also thick, I proceeded with Contoura LASIK!
▶ [Q4. Cost] Contoura LASIK cost 2.5 million won, and if you do it at a cheaper place, I think it would be possible for around 1.9-2.0 million won. I think I paid about an extra 500,000 won for something called a corneal strengthening procedure! (They say corneal strengthening is good for LASEK, but not essential for LASIK.)
