Before<before surgery, impression that looked unfairly wronged>Before<before-and-after comparison>After<recent>I used to hear a lot that I looked like I was unfairly wronged. While going around to hospital consultations, I found out that it was all because of the length of my nose.. I guess this is why people say you need to go to a lot of consultations. I got to understand my face better.
Originally, my concern was my wide nostril wings, but the director said that if the nasal tip length was brought out a little more from here, the part where my mouth looked slightly protruded would also improve a lot.
I had surgery at a place where I felt they looked at my overall facial structure well, and the nostril symmetry turned out well, and even my nostril wings became much smaller. Among the hospitals I visited, most of them said I needed nostril-wing reduction, so I just thought that must be the case, but this was the only place that said I didn’t need it~ and that if they pulled and lifted it, it could become sufficiently slim. They strongly talked me out of nostril-wing reduction, so I was kind of unsure, you know? Even right before the nose surgery, I wondered whether it was really right not to do it, but once I actually had the surgery and the swelling went down, the first thought I had was that I was glad I didn’t do it.
Even without particularly touching the nostril wings, it was something that could improve enough with bulbous nose correction and nasal bridge osteotomy alone.
However, maybe because of the osteotomy, I did have some bruising. Still, after the splint was removed at one week, it gradually faded. I had my nasolabial angle adjusted, the columella lowered, and even the nasal tip defining point corrected, so the surgery was done with silicone and septal cartilage~ During the consultation, they said donated costal cartilage could be added if my septal cartilage was insufficient, but they ended up using only septal cartilage.
Honestly, my nose barely hurt. There was some throbbing, but I thought, well, it’s because they shaved/cut the bone~ and even that was to the point where I couldn’t feel it after taking painkillers once or twice lol. More than that, the hardest part was when the packing was inside, and once it was removed, it really felt like nothing.
+ I think patient care here was good too. The consultant manager replied on KakaoTalk really quickly, and whenever I had questions for the hospital, I called and asked, and the staff answered really brightly, which was nice.
+ For reference, you can watch the CCTV in real time. Interestingly, they gave me a self-care kit when I went home so I could manage things separately at home. It had everything like swelling-care items and cotton swabs, so there was practically almost nothing I had to prepare separately.
+ When the splint was removed, the director checked my progress. They explained what kind of surgery they had done and how the result came out well because of that. When they said my current condition was very good and that it would get even prettier once more swelling went down, the little bit of anxiety I still had disappeared...!
