My nose was hit in the past, so the left side became crooked, and I once had a reduction surgery (a surgery to set the bones). But even after that surgery, at the time I couldn’t take care of it properly, like putting my head down on the desk at school and running around, so it’s still crooked. It’s not severely crooked, just at a level only I notice, slightly crooked. I went to 11 hospitals for consultations, and only ㅁㅌ Plastic Surgery and ㅇㅇㅌ said they could align the bones with an osteotomy. Only ㅁㅌ was the one that said they could also straighten the septal cartilage, so I like ㅁㅌ Plastic Surgery.
But I wonder, what if this diagnosis is wrong? What if trying to align the bone and septal cartilage for no reason makes it more crooked or worse? I saw somewhere that if something is only slightly crooked, surgery can make it worse, so the doctor has to judge well and decide. They said if surgery can’t make it better, it might actually be better not to have surgery It’s not that I have a complex, but since I’m paying a lot of money, I want to correct my slightly crooked nose.. If only 2 places say it’s possible and 9 places say just to slightly shave the nasal bone, is the method the 9 places suggested the right one? I’m worried first that doing an osteotomy could cause an irreversible result. Am I just trying to go with the hospital that says it can be done because I already have the answer I want? Maybe it’s actually the wrong choice..
If it were you, would you choose to correct the crookedness with an osteotomy, or would you choose the surgery most doctors recommend, shaving it just slightly?
