Hello
It has already been over a year since I had two-jaw surgery (IVRO) and two types of facial contouring surgery (square jaw and chin):)
(I had surgery on May 24 with Director Lee Seok-jae at Y Oral)
I used to worry about my protruding lower jaw and asymmetry, and it honestly feels unbelievable that I no longer have those concerns haha
At first, before surgery, I often heard opinions like my face was already small enough and people didn't know why I wanted to do it,
but while visiting many dental clinics over the years, I was often told it would be difficult to correct with orthodontics alone, and I lived with stress from asymmetry and a protruding lower jaw
I started orthodontic treatment before two-jaw surgery, and even now after surgery, I still visit the dental clinic for dental care:)
The asymmetry that was my huge complex!! When people saw the left side of my face, they would say, 'You look pretty' or 'You look like you lost weight,' but when they saw the right side, they would say things like I looked somehow different or ask if I had gained weight. Those words and actions from people around me because of the asymmetry remained as big wounds.
So I was always self-conscious, covered one side of my face with my hair, and always took photos with my head lowered, which became a habit.
Since I was young, I lived thinking that I had to get a consultation someday, and then I thought, now is the timing! So after consulting at several places, I had the surgery. The reason I chose this place was that the director only said exactly what was needed, which made me trust him the most, I guess?? Even after consulting at several places, I kept thinking about this place.
Now that a year has passed, I have no sensory abnormalities, no narrowed airway, no pain, and no aftereffects.
Recently, I also finished pin removal:)
My daily life after surgery has not changed. I still go to the same job, and I eat the foods I want (chicken, jokbal, stir-fried webfoot octopus, etc.) without worrying:) But now I don't feel self-conscious even when I sweep my hair back so the right side shows, and the frequency of me worrying about my appearance has decreased. Friends around me have also said things like my face got smaller, they couldn't tell I had it done, and they're glad!
Because I did IVRO, I couldn't eat rice well and had a hard time for two weeks, but I do not regret having the surgery!!
Recently, since it has been over a year since surgery, I took 1-year progress photos, and I visit once a month for dental treatment. I am thankful that the director pays a lot of attention to whether both sides of my teeth occlude well, whether the orthodontic correction is progressing properly, trimming large teeth, and more. He said my orthodontic treatment will end soon, so I should think about what I want and come in.
I am eagerly waiting for my orthodontic treatment to finish as soon as possible!
Thank you for reading this long post:)
