I had only seen him on YouTube, and those videos kept playing in the lobby too, so I waited without even noticing the waiting time pass. After the CT scan, as soon as I met the director, I was slightly frozen by his stern impression, but the consultation proceeded only by leaving out unnecessary rambling, identifying my needs, explaining the surgical method, and taking questions. Of course, I asked all the questions I had thought of and received answers to all of them, but when I showed him photos, he only said one word, “Yes,” as if a computer had accepted an input value, so I was slightly flustered. It meant that he accurately recognized and understood what I wanted, and that was probably the director's confidence, but at that point, I felt slightly anxious because I did not get a direct answer about how large the gap would be between the surgical result I wanted and the realistic result. Since I knew my masseter muscles were developed, a surgical plan came up to include masseter reduction, and there were certainly no excessive additional surgery suggestions.

With facial contouring surgery (cheekbones, square jaw), the symmetry of the facial outline could be achieved to some extent, but my original asymmetry (jaw deviation) was something to consider as a double-jaw surgery case. So I definitely planned to meet an oral and maxillofacial surgery specialist. Because I had a slight malocclusion, it was even more necessary. They made a dental cast, and the consultation proceeded while looking at that and the CT scan images. Was it because I said my concern was facial asymmetry caused by jaw deviation? The consultation also focused mainly on double-jaw surgery and square jaw, and rather, they recommended cheekbone surgery as optional. Double-jaw surgery is a burdensome surgery even for everyone with malocclusion or a protruding lower jaw. So the consultation was a process of understanding why that surgery is necessary for me, and I directly confirmed with my own eyes how the bone would be cut out to align the angles. Then I continued the consultation with an orthodontist and received the answer that after 6 months of pre-surgical orthodontic treatment, surgery could be possible as early as winter. Of course, double-jaw surgery requires orthodontic treatment even after surgery, but whether I am willing to endure that is a somewhat different matter, so I think I need to think about it seriously.
