It has been almost 1 year since I had LASEK, and I had the surgery at a place in Gangnam that is said to be conservative. In my case, I had worn glasses for a long time, and because I had severe astigmatism, my glasses started getting too thick, so I began thinking I should get LASEK.
If I were to score the surgery itself, I think about 50-55 points? Of course, it’s convenient to live without glasses, but maybe because I’d worn glasses since I was young, I don’t think it was a complete new world after surgery like other people say, not to that extent.
Other than that, to briefly talk about the inconveniences from the surgery up to now: - On gloomy days or when it’s dark, my vision definitely drops. - Also, it’s hard to pinpoint exactly, but when looking at things far away, there’s a feeling that the resolution has dropped by about 5-10%. - Lastly, my eyes get tired very slightly faster than before? (Dry eye seems about the same as before.)
As for the hospital.. it wasn’t good. Especially the nurse was extremely unfriendly, and the doctor only said exactly what he wanted to say. If the patient asked even a little beyond that, he seemed very annoyed and treated me like a strange person. I don’t think it was that bad during the consultation, but he changed completely.. During surgery, there was no device at all to fix my head on the operating table? Because of that, even though I tried not to, it seems my head kept moving very slightly. I had a really hard time because of this. If anyone is interested in the surgery, please make sure to ask the doctor whether there is something like a device to fix the head during surgery.
