Honest review 1 month after nose surgery

I had nose surgery in April, and now it has been one month. To mark one month since my nose surgery, I’ll write a review.

Days 1-2 1. My face was a bit swollen. 2. I kept having a runny nose and nosebleeds, so I couldn’t breathe. Since I didn’t have cotton packed inside my nose, I kept holding gauze under my nose and wiping away the runny discharge and blood. 3. There was less pain than I expected. > It didn’t hurt, but not being able to breathe through my nose was wayyyyy more uncomfortable than I thought. On the first and second days, I had to go to the hospital for antibiotic injections, and it was uncomfortable because I had to keep wiping my runny nose and nosebleeds while wearing a mask, and my throat got extremely dry. The nosebleeds gradually decreased after day 2, but the runny nose kept going.. haha When you go to the hospital, they disinfect the inside of your nose, and that feels incredibly refreshing.

Days 3-7 1. My face swelled up a loooooot. 2. The runny nose gradually got better, but I coughed a lot. 3. No pain at all unless I touched it. 4. Finally had the splint removed on day 7. > From day 3, my face really swelled tremendously. Doctors said pumpkin juice doesn’t really have much effect, so I didn’t eat or drink anything specifically to reduce swelling. I heard warm/cold compresses were good, so I tried those too, but they weren’t as effective as I expected, so I walked every day for about 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours. Then the swelling went down really quickly! I recommend walking when trying to reduce swelling!! I had my splint removed on day 7, and I had been so stressed out by having the splint on, so I was happy after it was removed. They only removed the stitches inside my nose, and people who had ear cartilage grafting and nostril reduction like me get the remaining stitches removed on day 10. Stitch removal hurts quite a bit.. haha I teared up a little.

Day 10 1. No swelling. 2. No pain unless I touched it. 3. No runny nose unless I ate something hot or walked intensely. (Normal walking didn’t make my nose run.) 4. Ear and nostril stitches removed. > Once the stitches are removed on day 10, there’s almost no difficulty with daily life. Of course, you have to avoid impact to the nose, and exercise is only possible after one month, but other than that, you can pretty much do everything. After nose surgery, the pores on your nose get enlarged, so blackheads and sebum are no joke. Since you can’t use a nose strip right away, I managed it with cleansing oil. Even if you take care of it every day, sebum builds up a lot, so everyone, take good care of it.. haha

Day 30 1. There is still a scar around the columella. 2. Scar tissue formed inside the nose. 3. Exercise is possible. > After day 10, there weren’t any major changes. My nose and ear still hurt if I touch them, but they’re fine when I leave them alone. One notable thing is that scar tissue formed inside my nose. When I asked my doctor, they said scar tissue forms most easily around months 1-3 and should gradually get better, so I’m waiting to see. They also said I need to watch the columella scar until 3 months, so I’m worried it might scar, but I’m waiting for now.

In conclusion, from 1 week to day 10 after nose surgery is really tough, but after that it’s okay, so everyone, just hang in there until day 10! The doctor who performed my surgery was kind, so whenever I went to the hospital, I asked all the questions I had, and I didn’t feel anxious or worried! I hope everyone chooses a good hospital, especially meets a good doctor, and gets a pretty nose!
