I thought I might forget, and there might be people who are curious, so here’s my same-day review~~ Functional nose surgery for deviated septum and inferior turbinate reduction Cosmetic rhinoplasty using septal cartilage, ear cartilage, and silicone Sedation anesthesia
I went 30 minutes earlier than the time they told me to come. 1. Washed my face~ gargled~ 2. Put on the humiliating headband lol and took DSLR photos from left, right, above, and below 3. Waited, then the director came and did the final design (you have to say everything at this point) 4. The consultant came and put several aftercare items into a shopping bag for me (5 spare gauzes for under the nose, already taped, a hot/cold massage eye mask, 3 bonus packs of something for reducing swelling, a paper with precautions, etc.) 5. Did a simple smell test for the nose, they explained precautions, and I signed the consent form 7. Waited, changed clothes, and went into the operating room. They let me wear something like a sleeveless top for my upper body, with a gown over it, and I kept the pants I came in wearing. The operating room was a small room with music on and a blanket, so it didn’t feel as frightening as I expected; it felt like a place where people actually work (As someone who had orthodontics with 6 teeth extracted, the dental chair and dental treatment environment felt scarier) 8. Three nurses came and stood on my left, right, and above me. One administered a sedative with a syringe, one attached some ECG thing to my finger and secured my arms and legs (for some reason, being secured actually made me feel more stable), and one covered my hair with plastic so it wouldn’t come out. Somewhere in between, I fell asleep without knowing when 9. They said, “Wake up~,” and it just felt like waking up from a nap. It was only about the level of dizziness like I had drunk soju on a day I wasn’t feeling well. My mind was clear. A staff member who seemed to be the person at the front desk came to meet me, let me lean on their shoulder, and helped me move to the recovery room. My throat was dry, so I gargled with about two paper cups of water (something like medicine or blood came out, so you need to gargle or it feels gross), and drank about two more cups of water. I didn’t sit there for long before I felt okay, so I left for home with my mom.
I got a medication prescription, but my mom went to the pharmacy and picked it up while waiting for me. My mom was waiting in the recovery room, and another surgery patient came out first, saying nonsense, staggering, and trying to lean on my mom, so she said she was really worried I would be like that too. Even though the staff helped support that person, they were still like that. I guess not everyone wakes up from anesthesia as clear-headed as I did. A guardian seems essentialㅜ
On the way home, I thought, even with cotton in my nose, I could breathe a little through my nose, so why do people say it’s uncomfortable? But about 3 hours after leaving the hospital, it got completely blocked with runny nose lol. The swelling was just at the level of, oh, I guess I am swelling a bit. Because I can’t breathe through my nose, my throat got extremely dry, scratchy, and my voice doesn’t come out well. A straw is essential for drinking waterㅜㅜ I was a bit worried about moving the philtrum area, so I only moved my lower jaw to drink, but it kept dribbling out. But my nose and ear feel so normal that I wonder if I really had surgery. My throat is the scratchiest.
