3 years ago, I went to get filler, and because they said if I was going to keep getting filler, I should put in silicone, on that same day I got silicone.. as if they were putting in filler... I had the surgery (under local anesthesia... wearing the same clothes I had gone in with.. surgery)
The silicone moved around and felt like chalk.. I lived like that, then in early January this year, I got revision surgery at a hospital I chose after going around for consultations.
They removed the existing L-shaped silicone and did silicone 2.5 mm + septal cartilage for the nasal tip.
But 2 weeks after surgery, the glabella suddenly swelled and then went back down, and after that, every 2-3 weeks, only the nasal bridge would swell up really big, then after about 2 hours go back down again, repeatedly; then at some point it became every 1 week; and the time it took to go down became more than 5 hours.
The hospital said they couldn’t identify the cause. They said if it were an inflammatory reaction, it would feel fluctuant, but it wasn’t fluctuant, so they didn’t know the cause. It felt like only the nasal bridge was becoming hard and getting huge..;;
But it was strange because it would just go down again even without taking medicine, but since it would suddenly swell without warning, I was nervous about meeting people.
After the swelling and subsiding repeated about 4-5 times, the doctor also said we should remove it, so at around 3 months and 14 days, I removed only the silicone and left the septal cartilage in the nasal tip! Now it has been 2 weeks since removal.
I didn’t look separately for a removal hospital; I just had it removed at the hospital where I had the surgery.
But after removal, the nasal bridge is more spread out than my original nose (the nasal bridge has become really wide.. it’s not just that it feels that way because it got lower, it really feels like silicone is attached to both sides of the nasal bridge; in photos, it looks like someone who had nose surgery;; but the nasal bridge is low, so it’s kind of odd),...the nasal bridge goes along and then before reaching the nasal tip, there is an indentation once;; the doctor says this isn’t a step-off..;;;
According to the doctor, because silicone had been sitting there for about 3 years, the nasal bridge was pressed down, the bone became deformed, and that is why the spread-out shape appears. Does everyone’s nose spread out like this after removal Apart from the nose getting lower, it feels like the nasal bridge itself has become wider (even compared with photos of my original nose).
And about the indentation in the nasal bridge, they said no one’s original nose is perfectly smooth and that this can happen; but it wasn’t an indented area in my original nose;;
Is there anyone like me whose nasal bridge didn’t feel fluctuant, but swelled hard and then went down after a few hours;; And after nose implant removal, is it really true that the bone gets pressed by silicone and spreads out
It has only been 2 weeks since removal, so if it settles down, will it get a bit better
