I completed 1 year of orthodontic treatment with Invisalign! I finished in just 1 year thanks to wearing the aligners properly!!
Pros 1. Invisalign is a removable appliance, so it is easy to brush your teeth 2. My upper teeth were protruding and I had a deep overbite, but I chose Invisalign because I was told it has strong force for pulling the upper teeth in 3. Because of my job, I get photographed a lot, and I am definitely more satisfied after orthodontic treatment. I feel more confident in my smile (My teeth were very well aligned, so friends around me advised against orthodontics, and another dental clinic also said it probably would not be very useful but because my midface stood out in my overall facial balance, and especially because my teeth made it look even more prominent, I started orthodontics based on my own judgment plus the judgment of the doctor at The New Dental Clinic)
Cons 1. Because my skin tends to sag easily, I developed nasolabial folds 2. It was so frustrating that I could not eat anything while wearing Invisalign 3. I started Invisalign because I did not want rail-like braces on my teeth at 26, but since attachments are bonded to the teeth, the feeling was similar to having metal braces.. When the braces were removed and only the attachments were left, people did not really notice that I had orthodontic treatment, but the moment I put on the clear aligners, my mouth looked unnatural like a boxer. It did not have the clean look that is advertised at all
If I could go back, because of cons 2 and 3, I think I would just choose wire braces.. They are also about 1.5 times cheaper... But I was told wire braces would take about 2 years, so with Invisalign taking 1 year versus wire braces taking 2 years, I think I would choose the former! Also, because it can create nasolabial folds, I think I would manage it well in between..
