I had surgery at a university hospital for treatment purposes because of severe malocclusion.
Before surgery, I had teeth extracted and wore braces for about 2 years, and after surgery I had postoperative orthodontic treatment for about 1 year.
I still have my dental retainer attached.
I’ve also completed pin removal.
The side effect I’m writing about now, in my 8th year, is that the sensation below my lower lip is a bit dull. If normal sensation is 100, it’s about 70? Right after surgery, I had almost no sensation, so I thought the surgery had gone wrong. Still, it did slowly recover, so now there’s no major inconvenience in daily life.
