1. A natural-looking double eyelid line 2. I wanted the director who performed my eye surgery to check my progress “personally” even after surgery 3. A clinic with an aftercare/AS period of at least 1 year
Starting with number 1, no matter how much I wanted a defined double eyelid, I felt like I would be stressed for the rest of my life if I had an overly heavy line that didn’t suit my eye shape.
Since my other facial features, aside from my eyes, are not very flashy either, I wanted my eyes to look as natural as possible with an in-out line. While going around for consultations, I passed on every place that recommended a semi-out line.. It wasn’t the director’s fault, it just didn’t match my taste, so I felt like I had no choice but to search until my feet were sweating.
At the place where I had surgery, the director showed me all the different line types and told me that an in-out line suited me much better than the trendy semi-out or out line. I also liked the line when I looked at it in the mirror, so I ended up having surgery there.
For number 2, there are many places where you can’t see the director personally after surgery, so I hope everyone checks this point too. Honestly, people say there are hardly any clinics like that these days, but since we don’t know how things will change before and after surgery, it’s good to check in reviews whether the director personally checks everything and to ask again during the consultation.
For me, the director personally removed my stitches, and every time I visited the clinic, they spent over 30 minutes checking the condition of my eyes. From the patient’s perspective, that felt very reassuring.
Number 3 shows how well organized the clinic’s system is. Honestly, for eyes, many places offer 1 year of aftercare/AS.. Still, if you look for clinics that specialize in eyes and are also popular for revision surgery, you can find places that apply a more generous period than that.
The place where I had surgery also has a 3-year aftercare/AS period, and honestly, they say eye swelling can take up to a year to fully go down, so I think it’s impossible to understand the full condition of my eyes within that time… I think it’s better to look for places that offer 2 years or more.
The swelling was the worst on day 3 after surgery, and even with the stitches still in, I felt like I had relatively little swelling. But after the stitches were removed, the swelling really went down quickly.. I even had epicanthoplasty and ptosis correction done together, but there was less swelling than I expected, so I had no difficulty at all with daily life.
If you look at the 2-week photo, of course it still shows when my eyes are closed or when I’m very swollen in the morning, but by the afternoon the swelling completely settles down, and it’s becoming quite natural haha. I still haven’t tried makeup or contact lenses, but once the line settles a bit more, I’m planning to do my makeup properly too.
This got long as I was writing, but before surgery, I was also worried that if I got incisional double eyelid surgery, the swelling would definitely be severe and I might even develop scar tissue.
But I think that if you get double eyelid surgery using a method that suits your own skin type, that’s actually the shortcut to success~ Since my eyelids were droopy, if I had gotten natural adhesion for my eyes.. I feel like the fixation probably wouldn’t have held properly.
So everyone, even if you’re advised to get an incision, don’t automatically feel resistant to it. Think about whether your skin has stretched that much or whether it’s thick, and I hope you succeed with the surgical method that suits you.
