Before and after, before and after. I think my concern about jaw asymmetry started in middle school. Before entering middle school, I needed an ID photo, so I took one at a photo studio, and I could see asymmetry that I had not noticed before.. I think that was when my concerns about asymmetry became big!!
In my teens and 20s, I was scared of something called double-jaw surgery and never even thought about it, but once I reached my 30s, I wanted to correct the jaw asymmetry that had been a long-standing concern So I immediately started looking into hospitals, excluding plastic surgery clinics and looking only at oral and maxillofacial surgery clinics! Among them, the director's explanations on YouTube really resonated with me, so I received my first consultation at Y Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and booked the surgery date right there on the spot hahaha
This is a fresh surgery review from my surgery on March 12 haha I had double-jaw surgery and 2 types of facial contouring (chin tip and square jaw)!
-. Day 1 I had to arrive by 9:40, so I think I went into the hospital with my mom at around 9:30? I was shown to the hospital room, changed clothes, and then immediately heard the director explain how the surgery would proceed, which made me even more nervous But I trusted the director and went in for surgery.
When I woke up to someone calling me, the surgery had already just ended, and because I had to expel the anesthetic gas, my mom kept waking me up But I was so sleepy and it was hard to breathe, so it was painful.. Around the time I regained a little consciousness, the director came and told me the surgery had gone well and that if I just got through today, it would get a bit better, so I felt relieved hahaha
There was no facial pain, and since I had surgery with IVRO, breathing was extremely difficult After 7 o'clock, guardians could not stay with me, so I felt anxious, but because a nurse was there 24 hours a day and changed my ice packs and humidifier very often, I think I was able to endure it..
.- Day 2 Early in the morning, the nurse first removed the urine bag, and then the director came and removed the blood drain. That made me feel somewhat more comfortable! The director told me to walk around a lot, so from morning to evening I dragged my IV stand around and wandered here and there lol Moving helped a lot, and the director also came by from time to time to check on me, so time really passed quickly! My condition improved, and after my mom came, we even watched TV together lol
.- Discharge day~Day 7 The director came and checked one last time, and he said I really did not have much swelling, so I felt relieved, picked up my medication at the pharmacy, and was discharged. The consultant also said I would swell more on days 3 and 4, but I did not swell, and the swelling gradually went down. My condition was also okay, so I walked in the park behind my place for 1 hour every day. I think that helped the swelling go down even better haha
.- Week 2 I had the stitches removed, and the wafer was changed to a removable one, so I started eating soft foods, which improved my quality of life. I can feel the swelling going down more and more compared with week 1, so I feel happy haha My mom is also happier, saying I became much prettier, so I feel good!!! The swelling is going down slightly differently on the left and right sides, but they said swelling normally subsides separately, so I am waiting with peace of mind hahaha
I am so glad and happy that I could resolve something that had been a long-standing concern since middle school through double-jaw surgery, and it feels like it became a turning point in my life!! It costs a lot and is a difficult surgery, but if you have asymmetry, I really recommend thinking about double-jaw surgery and trying it!! It will be completely different from your life before surgery haha
