I’m leaving a review because I hope my surgical experience can help people who are hesitating because of appearance-related complexes and stress, as well as the director who performed my surgery.
Before surgery) Before surgery, I was very stressed because of my long face and protruding lower jaw. At first, I tried to resolve it with orthodontic treatment, but orthodontics only fixed the malocclusion and didn’t help much aesthetically in my situation. So I looked into it and heard that double-jaw surgery helps with a long face, so I ended up getting double-jaw surgery for cosmetic purposes.
After surgery) After surgery, I was hospitalized for 3 days at first and then discharged, but it was really hard until the one-month mark. The swelling was severe, my jaw hurt, and since I couldn’t use my jaw for a month, I could only eat porridge and couldn’t eat what I wanted. But from after one month, I practiced opening my mouth, the swelling went down a lot, and it became somewhat manageable.
I had the pin removal done this week, and since it was pin removal, I thought of it as relatively light, but although it’s much easier than the original surgery, there is definitely swelling and pain.
Honestly, double-jaw surgery is expensive and has many possible side effects, so I think it’s not a surgery you can decide on easily. But for me, so many of the difficult parts improved after surgery that even if I had to do it again, I think I would.
