Ever since I was young, my malocclusion was severe enough that my lower teeth protruded about 8 mm more than my upper teeth I lived with braces, but it was so severe that I only ever heard that I should get double-jaw surgery once I became an adult.
During my school years, when I cared the most about appearance, because I knew I looked very different from others, I tried to live with an easygoing and kind personality and maintained friendships well, but still, there were a lot of kids who subtly looked down on me.. Living while pretending it didn't bother me was really stressful
Then at age 20, I started orthodontic treatment again, and at 21, I had surgery at a university hospital
Maybe because it was so severe, or maybe because of the risks, it didn't go perfectly tucked in or give me a doll-like face shape,
but it became a face I could just live normally with haha
Mentally, I became a lot healthier,
Right after surgery, because my jaws were fixed together, I couldn't open my mouth and only had soy milk for weeks, so later I once cried while eating rice because I felt so upset lol꙼̈ㅋ̆̎ Well, things like that are solved by time.....
And in the hospital room, with my mouth tied shut, I vomited blood too, so it was scary and hard lolㅠㅠ (I had been told that I might vomit blood after surgery)
Now, the sensation in the gum area around my upper teeth and my lower lip is just slightly dulled?
Other than that, I'm living very well with no discomfort!
Honestly, I don't really recommend getting this done at a general plastic surgery clinic ㅜㅜ.. At the very least, I think it would be okay to have surgery at a plastic surgery clinic said to be good if a dental clinic has checked your condition and confirmed whether surgery-first then orthodontics is possible,
But in my case, the dental clinic said I absolutely had to do orthodontics first, and when I heard that general plastic surgery clinics all said I could do surgery first, I felt like they were desperate(?) to get me into surgery quickly.. so I had zero trust....ㅠㅠ
