While looking into another revision surgery after previous revisions, I found a director famous for shaping the columella well. I contacted them as soon as they reopened and had surgery, so there was no waiting.
For reference, I overheard the consultant on the phone saying that their surgery schedule is now fully booked up to 4 months out
Costal cartilage + ear cartilage + dermis + nasolabial angle correction were done The director personally handled all dressing and follow-up checks.
I had severe columellar retraction and scarring, and the director said the severe scarring was because the suturing in the previous surgery had been done incorrectly (the previous surgery was also done at a very famous place)
During the consultation, the director explained the importance of the columella and the nasolabial angle. In other reviews, people said the director might seem unfriendly, but I didn’t feel that. Instead, if you make an unreasonable request, they do state things firmly, but they weren’t unfriendly. In my case, I want to say that it made me trust them even more.
Anyway, on the day of surgery, I arrived around 10 a.m., had ear cartilage harvested under local anesthesia, then the anesthesiologist came and general anesthesia was started. The surgery time was extremely long. The director personally carved the ear cartilage and costal cartilage to fit the condition of the patient’s nose. In my case, the scarring was especially severe on the left columella. I later heard that it took a long time because the director sutured that along the tissue grain too. When I woke up, it was dawn, and the director had not gone home and slept at the clinic together with me
After the surgery, they were incredibly warm and asked if anything was uncomfortable. In my case, after waking from anesthesia, my arm and shoulder hurt a lot, and they even helped me stretch. In the middle of the night, they changed the gauze, and I briefly saw the shape of my nose then. I was surprised because it had completely changed.
For the following week, I went to the clinic every day for treatment, and from tape removal to disinfection, the director did everything personally. They even came to work alone on Sunday to take care of patients. This had never happened at other hospitals, so I felt that this person truly loves their job. It was fascinating
Today is day 13, and I’m writing this review while taking the KTX back down after having my consultation and learning how to do taping by myself.
I’m from Busan, so I had both my first surgery and revision surgery in Busan, but looking back now, I wish I had found a skilled director who was right for me from the first surgery and had it done without thinking about the price.
