I found photos of the nose shape I wanted (a nose shape similar to my pre-op nose), went to consultations at 3 places, and had surgery with a doctor who said it would be possible to achieve something like the photo without an implant. What I emphasized was that I wanted it to look natural!
I said I didn’t want a flashy nose or a nose molded to standardized beauty ideals, but wanted to keep my current nose line and just refine the hump-like look.
They slightly shaved down the hump and put dermis? on the bridge and 2 mm of autologous cartilage in the nasal tip. From the front, it looks quite slim, and from the side, it looks quite high. My nostrils became thin and long. Because of the swelling, I have an upturned-nose look + my long philtrum stands out, so from when I had the splint on until now, I haven’t wanted to look in the mirror, but apparently it’s originally like this at first.
(Reason for adding graft material: I dislike flashy looks, and my original nose was high, so I didn’t want to put anything in. But all 3 places I consulted said that if I only shaved the hump, the proportions wouldn’t match, and that I needed to add even just a very small amount.)
I asked the doctor too, and they said it will become more natural once the swelling goes down. I’m also looking forward to seeing how I’ll change! I’ll post again after some time passes!
