I’m scheduled for revision rhinoplasty, and if I have the option between autologous costal cartilage and donated costal cartilage, would autologous costal cartilage definitely be safer and better? I’ve often heard that donated costal cartilage can cause inflammation and side effects. If you exclude the price difference, would there not be a big difference between the two? The doctor also said both autologous and donated cartilage can be used… With autologous cartilage, I’m worried it’ll hurt a lot since they have to take my own tissue. With donated costal cartilage, I’m worried there might be side effects because it’s from someone else.
