Nose Surgery Reviews@rhino-review

Detailed review of revision rhinoplasty!

Before-before-after-after-after-after Pre-surgery nose condition: I had removed the silicone from the nasal bridge and only had costal cartilage in the nasal tip. So there was a bend at the transition from the nasal bridge to the nasal tip, the columella line was unnatural, and overall it was a nose that made my face look long ㅠ I had osteotomy + no implant to fill in the nasal bridge to make it slimmer + correction of the left nostril wing being lifted.

Day 1: Maybe because I had osteotomy, once the anesthesia wore off, it hurt quite a lot. But if you take the medicine exactly on time, the pain lessens and it’s okay! If it still hurt even after taking the medicine from the clinic, taking one Tylenol before bed was just right!

Day 3: They removed the cotton from my nose, and I was really happy! It didn’t hurt at all and just felt refreshing!!!!

Day 7: They removed the external stitches on my nose, and my ear didn’t hurt at all. From this point on, there wasn’t really any pain, and actually only the ear where cartilage was harvested hurt a little!

Day 14: Finally, the splint, intranasal stitches, and ear stitches are removed!!!! As the 2-week mark approached, the tape had gotten worn and dirty, and my nose was itchy! I was shocked when I saw the blackheads after removing the splint, but it felt so refreshing!!! I was also excited because I could finally see the nose shape I had been curious about! There was still some minor swelling on the nasal dorsum and between the eyebrows, but the director told me my nose turned out really well, so I felt good >< Even to me, the shortcomings of my previous nose had been improved, so I was satisfied!

Day 30: I went for my 1-month follow-up! The director said everything had gone well without any problems, so I felt reassured once again! A lot of the swelling went down and it became much more natural. Since the major swelling has gone down, it looks quite natural, but I think time is the medicine for minor swelling, so I’m trying to take it easy! I work on a computer, so once I sit down I don’t move much, and I feel like that may be making the swelling go down a little more slowly! I’m also trying to move around more!

<Things I needed after surgery>

-Lip balm (Vaseline Lip Therapy): Since cotton is placed in the nose, you breathe through your mouth, so your lips get extremely chapped! Vaseline lip balm is a bit sticky, but it’s the best to apply after surgery!

-Toner pads (ones I had at home): Since I couldn’t wash my face, they were very good for removing oil.

-Sterile cotton swabs (pharmacy) + ophthalmic ointment (prescribed): After removing the cotton, I applied it frequently to prevent infection and dryness! During this process, a lot of blood + boogers form, so if you have a humidifier, definitely use it to maintain proper humidity! And absolutely do not pick off scabs or blow your nose forcefully! If you manage indoor dryness well, fewer scabs form too!

-Pumpkin juice + liquid food (Coupang - Teatreat Fox Tea Red Bean Pumpkin Tea, New Care Savory Black Sesame): Until the cotton is removed from the nose, it’s hard to breathe and you can’t smell anything!!! Even when my friend ate mala xiang guo, I couldn’t smell it, so I didn’t feel like eating it??? Also, because of the nasal sutures and the major early swelling, it’s hard to open your mouth wide for about 1-3 days! I ate porridge and New Care with a small spoon! I also made rice soft and ate it with soft side dishes like steamed egg, and cut larger side dishes into small pieces with scissors before eating. The pumpkin juice helped me more with dry mouth than swelling, more than bottled water did!!! I took a sip every 10 minutes, and it was nice because my mouth felt less dry than with water.

-Backrest cushion (Coupang - Sohaim triangular velvet backrest L): I’m still using this so well even now at 1 month! I read that after surgery it’s good to keep your head propped higher than your heart, so I bought it cheaply on Coupang, and it’s great value. If you have a habit of sleeping on your side, try placing two more pillows beside your head and sleep on your back!! I slept with guards on both sides of my head because I was worried my nose might become crooked or something might go wrong.

<Tips after rhinoplasty>

Water diluted with pumpkin juice made the intervals between feeling thirsty longer than plain water!!

If you try too hard to sleep through the night, it’s stressful. I think it’s better to just lie down 2 hours earlier than usual and sleep while waking up on and off, filling 6-7 hours!

For the medical tape attached during surgery, try gently rubbing it off with oil! I stupidly just peeled it off and a bit of my skin came off ㅠㅠ I applied Bepanthen over it, and it did heal quickly!

You can get constipated, so you must make sure to eat more than an appropriate amount! Since you shouldn’t strain your face, it’s good to regulate it in advance.

If I drank too much water, I swelled up! So I drank small amounts, just enough to get rid of thirst, as if only moistening my throat.

I kept applying ice packs around my nose frequently!!! And I really hate walking and exercising, but from Day 4 I went on lots of walks! I think it was good for swelling too, and personally I felt proud!!
