First surgery: I was stressed about my hump nose, so 1 year ago I had implant-free surgery using septal cartilage. I didn't have osteotomy; they shaved down the hump and raised the nasal tip with septal cartilage.
Reason for complete removal: A big part was that I went ahead with the first surgery without properly finding information I didn't know my nose would be this hard, and I don't know if the mucous membrane was swollen, but my breathing wasn't like before, and it was slightly deviated to the left, which stood out especially more when I smiled. And it felt like my nose was excessively stretched forward and long. So my nostrils weren't exactly like an 11 shape, but they became vertically longer and looked like a pinched nose. Writing it out like this, it's a side-effect party..
I felt this wouldn't do, so after 1 year and 3 weeks, I had everything removed.
Hospital choice: I booked consultations at the three major places + the other two hospitals sometimes called the five major places, but one of them was fully booked until March this year, so I gave up! In the end, I had surgery at a place that starts with ㅍ.
Some hospitals charged double, said the support strut had to be left in, said deviation or breathing was not the ultimate goal of surgery, or said they couldn't guarantee no contracture or collapse after surgery, so I decided after considering various things.
Since it was revision surgery, I was very anxious, so I think I was drawn to someone who was confident about the surgical result and kind.
Day of surgery: The anesthesia was sedation + local, so I think I woke up around right before they stitched me up? Honestly, waking up during surgery is really scary I stayed up until dawn the day before looking up tons of reviews and feeling anxious, but it wasn't as big a deal as I expected! I came to the recovery room, and as the anesthesia slowly wore off, it hurt. I think the first two days after surgery are the hardest…
Day 10 progress: At 1 week, the stitches were removed and the splint was all taken off, and they said I barely had any swelling. It being slightly broad looks like my original noseㅋㅌㅋㅋㅋㅋ But! The pinched nose and deviated part have improved, but I don't think it's 100%, so I guess I need to watch it more?? The feeling of my nose projecting forward is completely gone, my nostrils have returned to a kidney-bean shape, and my mom says every time she sees it that it turned out well, that it doesn't look even 1 bit like plastic surgery and looks like before. I couldn't really press my nose, so I just touched it, and it feels like an eraser..? It has gotten softer. I hope it gets even more pliable with time!
It's only day 10, but I'm so satisfied~ My mind is at ease too. It's something many people say until they're blue in the face, but.. unless it's a severe complex to the point of making you depressed, I think it's right not to get nose surgery.
Complete removal of septal cartilage has few cases and not many reviews, so I wrote this for everyone who might be curious or anxious. I was like that too! I don't come in often, but you can leave questions in the comments~
