Review 3 Weeks After Incisional Eye Revision Surgery

The first and second photos are before surgery The third and fourth photos are from week 3.

First of all, because this was a revision surgery, I was very worried about what I would do if it did not go well again this time. But in the end, I am very satisfied. It was not as scary or difficult as the first surgery. This was entirely thanks to the director, because throughout the surgery, they spoke to me gently, telling me to relax, that I did not need to be scared, and that they would do a good job. I could feel that they were being very meticulous and attentive, so I felt reassured too.

There were broadly two things I wanted from the revision surgery. 1. Cleaning up the messy line 2. Symmetry between both eyes The line was really messy, so whenever I felt like people were looking at my eyes, I kept avoiding them. Also, the line on my right eye was larger than the left, and it slightly covered my eye, making it look sleepy. They resolved all of these issues. When I close my eyes, the right line is still very slightly larger, but it has definitely improved compared with before. When my eyes are open, they look the same. I am satisfied even now, but I am curious how it will look once the swelling goes down more.

What was really amazing was that I am the type who swells easily, but this time there was almost no swelling. After the stitches were removed, the little swelling that had barely been there went down sharply again. The swelling at one week after the revision surgery was similar to the swelling at about 4 months after my first surgery. Thanks to that, from week 1 until now at week 3, I have been able to go around outside freely without even wearing a hat.

Of course, since it was an incisional procedure, the surgical marks and stitch marks are still quite visible. But when my eyes are open, no one knows I had revision surgery. Maybe because there was not much swelling to begin with, the speed at which the swelling is going down feels slower these days, but at this level I can go about daily life perfectly well, so the swelling does not bother me much.
