It’s been 13 years since my rhinoplasty.. I developed symptoms that made me suspect contracture, and I also didn’t like the shape, so I chose 4 clinics and went for consultations. My criteria for choosing clinics were safety, accessibility from Express Bus Terminal, and a natural-looking shape. As a result, I first chose ㅊㅇ, ㅁㅎ, ㅋㅂㅈ, and ㅁㄱ.
What all the clinics had in common was that, perhaps because it was revision surgery, they took a CT scan; they all said it did not seem to be contracture; and they suggested replacing the current silicone, estimated at 5.5-6 mm, with about 3-4 mm silicone to lower the bridge height, extend the nasal length, and perform alar reduction.
1. ㅊㅇ(ㅂㅇㄱ) Consultation fee was free because I went through a Naver event. Replace with 3-4 mm silicone, build the columellar support with septal cartilage, and if septal cartilage is insufficient, ear cartilage may be used. Alar reduction and bulbous nose correction included. Costal cartilage can be used if the patient wants a definite correction, but when I said I’d rather avoid costal cartilage if possible, we decided to proceed only with silicone + septal cartilage + ear cartilage. The quote was 6.8 million won, and they said with discounts for a selfie review, same-day payment, etc., it could go down to about 5.8 million won at most. For aftercare, they said they provide swelling care and sebum care. The clinic interior was really pretty, with an Instagram-style vibe.
2. ㅁㅎ(ㅇㅅㅎ) Consultation fee 10,000 won. When I said I had nasal obstruction, they said they would do rhinitis surgery together. Replace with about 4 mm silicone, and make the nasal tip as slim as possible. They would use autologous costal cartilage and reuse the previously used ear cartilage. When I said I don’t like a nose that is too high, the doctor said that no matter how much they raise it from my current nose, the kind of shape I’m imagining cannot come out. In summary: short nose correction + alar reduction + bulbous nose correction + autologous costal cartilage + silicone + rhinitis surgery. Surgery is done under general anesthesia. They provide swelling laser and swelling injections as a service, and the revision warranty period is 1 year. The quote was 7.8 million won, and with a review-writing event it could go down to 7.5 million won. Since the rhinitis surgery can be covered by insurance and reimbursed, the actual expense is expected to be around 6.3-6.5 million won.
3. ㅋㅂㅈ(ㅎㅅㅁ) Consultation fee 10,000 won. No functional surgery is needed, and the silicone would be replaced with about 3 mm. Since the septal cartilage is not large and looks weak, they would use autologous costal cartilage, do alar reduction, remove scar tissue if present, lower the nostril rim, and do osteotomy if needed. When I mentioned concern about nasolabial folds during alar reduction, the doctor also recommended paranasal augmentation using autologous costal cartilage while harvesting it anyway. It would be done under general anesthesia, and the surgery time would take less than 3 hours. Revision warranty period is 3 years. The doctor personally edited the expected postoperative shape on a tablet and showed it to me. They quoted 8.6 million won, but I don’t remember whether this included paranasal augmentation.. Is it expensive because it was included? Anyway, paranasal augmentation is 1.5 million won, but they said if done together with the nose, they would do it for 1 million won. If I put down a deposit, it could be 8.2 million won.
4. ㅁㄱ(ㄱㅇㅌ) Consultation fee 10,000 won. Replace with 4 mm silicone. Since the septal cartilage is small, surgery would be difficult with septal cartilage; if I want a more ambitious change, autologous costal cartilage can be used, but if I don’t want to push it too much, surgery is possible with ear cartilage too. They would reposition the alar cartilage to lower the upturned nose. If the bridge is lowered, the nose can look wider, so they would do alar reduction, and osteotomy would also be needed. When I told the consultant I was worried about scarring from alar reduction, she said alar reduction would involve incisions both inside and outside the nose, and since my skin is not that oily, the scar would be less noticeable than the columellar scar. It would be done under sedation anesthesia, and the surgery time would be about 3 to 3.5 hours. They said if I send photos of the nose I want before surgery, the doctor will refer to them during surgery. They said the doctor personally checks all follow-up progress. They provide injections or laser for free, and the revision warranty period is 2 years. I felt that the fact that the doctor dislikes pinched noses and pointy noses was the style that best matched my aesthetic needs. In summary: silicone replacement + alar reduction + osteotomy + alar cartilage repositioning -> 6.93 million won. Same-day booking would be 6.3 million won, and they said there would be an additional discount for participating in a review event, but I forgot the amount..
After visiting all 4 places, I felt ㅁㄱ was the most thorough in checking my current nose condition and understanding my needs. At other clinics, the consultation order was consultant -> doctor -> consultant, but here the doctor’s consultation came first, so I felt the doctor tends to check the patient’s condition first. I also liked that they wouldn’t use autologous costal cartilage or septal cartilage.. I could also feel that the consultant was trying to understand and convey as much of the patient’s needs as possible between the doctor and the patient. Of course, I may be evaluating it more generously because I liked the review photos.. but after looking up a few more reviews, if I don’t find a place I like better, I think I’ll do it here..!
