This is my 1-month review after getting no-implant surgery (septal cartilage for the tip), bulbous nose correction, hump reduction, alar lifting, and rhinitis (functional nose) surgery from Dr. Kim Seon-gu at KoKoLine Clinic.
Overall, I’m becoming more and more satisfied.
The reason I chose this hospital was that an acquaintance of mine had surgery with Dr. Kim Seon-gu a few years ago using no implant, and the result looked so naturally good that I decided to choose this hospital too.
And our values matched well. Having a pretty nose was secondary; the first priority was pursuing surgery without complications. I especially trusted him because he is an ENT specialist. I also liked that he aimed for a natural nose that suits the face. When I first went for a consultation, I was thinking about alar reduction and a no-implant tip, but Dr. Kim Seon-gu kindly explained everything and recommended the surgical methods that would suit me. He told me that with my nose shape, lifting just the tip instead of reducing the alar base could still have a nostril-reducing effect, that osteotomy was needed to make my nose, which looked wide, appear narrower, and that while correcting my bulbous nose, some of the fat in the nose should be removed to make it look slimmer, and so on. I saw one review saying that he treated patients a bit authoritatively, but I think that was a different doctor who used to be there before. Dr. Kim Seon-gu consulted with me kindly.
From right after the surgery until week 2, I was swollen and uncomfortable, and because of that discomfort I wondered whether I had made the right decision and whether I had done it for nothing. But as time passed and I saw my nose becoming prettier, I started to think I had made the right choice. As I’m writing this, it has been about 40 days, and compared to before the surgery, the tip has come up a lot, and the nose that looked blunt because it spread out sideways has come together much more. People around me say that swelling after nose surgery goes down a lot for up to 3 months, continues to go down a bit more until 6 months, and residual swelling keeps fading until 1 year. I’ll keep watching and post another update.
The price was 300 for the cosmetic nose surgery and 220 for the rhinitis surgery.
