First surgery 10 years ago: partial incision / ptosis correction / epicanthoplasty
[What I want to improve] 1. The line height is uneven (the left side is higher and has a stronger sausage-eye look) 2. I want to lower the front part, which is currently a full out-line, to an in-out line if possible, or at least a semi-out line 3. I want to lower the outer eye corners, which look too sharp
For any clinic that is not a solo practice, I only had consultations with the chief surgeon designated.
1. ㅇㄴㅂ Incision (excision) to lower the line / ptosis correction - The right side had ptosis correction done well, but the left side is weaker and needs it - Ptosis correction alone should lower the line somewhat - It should be possible to lower the line on both sides with excision - Lower outer-corner/lower-corner canthoplasty is not possible because if lower canthoplasty is done, there is a risk of looking like someone with too much white visible under the iris - The mucosal eversion is caused by ptosis correction, so there is no way to improve it
* This was the first place I consulted, and both the coordinator and the doctor were kinder than I expected and explained things well with smiles, so the consultation was good. But at the other clinics I visited afterward, they all said I would need double-line surgery, while here they were the only ones saying excision, so I passed. * Maybe because it was my first consultation, there was absolutely no pressure from the coordinator to pay a reservation deposit * Since it was not double-line surgery, the price was also among the lowest The price was in the mid-3 million won range, and with the review event discount it went down to the low-3 million won range
2. ㅁㅊㅍ Double-line surgery (left side only) / ptosis correction / upper-eyelid fat grafting - The right eye is fine as it is now, so they said to keep the line height the same and just fill the front part with fat grafting to try lowering the appearance - For the left eye, double-line surgery to lower it based on the right eye - Lower outer-corner/lower-corner canthoplasty was not recommended because it would likely worsen dryness
* I went there after seeing them on YouTube, and I thought they might be rather cold, but they were more gentle than I expected and explained things clearly and calmly * I passed because I had not considered the fat grafting they mentioned, because they said fat grafting would require general anesthesia, and because they wanted to keep the right eye line height the same, so I wasn’t sure whether it would improve things as much as I wanted and decided to consider everything * Even though it was only double-line surgery on one side, the price was quite high, in the low-4 million won range
3. ㅇㅇㅌ Double-line surgery (left side: entire line, right side: front part only) / ptosis correction / non-incisional lower outer-corner canthoplasty - The right eye had too much epicanthoplasty, so they would try lowering only the front part with double-line surgery, and if that was not enough, they suggested later epicanthoplasty restoration - Whether lowering only the front part will work is impossible to know unless it’s tried; there might be no difference either way - When I asked whether the mucosal eversion was due to ptosis correction, they said it just seems to be the way my eyes are
* Honestly, the fixation in the review photos looked too deep and not like my style, but I went because there were many reviews about lowering the line. The review photos they showed weren’t that impressive either, and here too they said to keep the right eye line height the same, so I passed * And I didn’t understand what the doctor was saying, so when I asked whether lowering the right-side line might make it end up looking too much like a hidden double eyelid, they said, “I’m saying we’re not lowering the right side!” in a somewhat embarrassing way, almost shouting, so I felt awkward asking anything else..;; Of the six places I visited, this was personally the worst, to the point that it felt like the doctor didn’t want to do the consultation * For the lower outer-corner canthoplasty, the coordinator explained it as candy canthoplasty, and the doctor seemed very proud, saying he was famous and had a lot of surgical experience, but I heard from a friend that candy canthoplasty had almost no effect, so I passed on this too Price: in the 5 million won range
4. ㄹㅎ Double-line surgery (left side only) / ptosis correction / fat grafting / epicanthoplasty restoration (right side only) / partial incision (right side) - The left side can be lowered with double-line surgery - The right eye has even less spare space than the left, and the height difference from the line they want to create is not that large, so it would be difficult to make it come out well; it could later turn into overlapping folds - If I want to lower the front part, fat grafting could make it look slightly covered - Because the right epicanthoplasty feels excessive, restoring it would probably soften the expression - When I open the right eye strongly, only the middle line disappears, and they were the only ones who pointed that out before I mentioned it If that part bothers me, they said they could make it feel more open without a pinched look by slightly raising and fixing only the middle line
* Just like in the doctor’s YouTube videos, they were really kind, asked if there was anything I wanted to know, and explained things gently; their voice was really nice too.. * They mentioned fat grafting here too... makes me wonder if this is really the kind of eye that actually needs it * If I do fat grafting, it’s done on the thigh, and the stitches there are removed after 10 days, while the double-eyelid stitches are removed after 7 days, so as someone who gets nervous about that, it felt a bit burdensome * I was also worried that if I did epicanthoplasty restoration on only one side, it might look strange * I normally sleep with my eyes slightly open, and this was the only place that actually checked that on the chart; the doctor also explained several possible reasons why that happens * They pinpointed exactly what I wanted before I even brought it up, and the doctor listened to my opinions well, which I liked. But because there were so many kinds of surgery and I kept wondering whether fat grafting was really necessary, I was torn. Still, the reservation deposit gap for same-day booking was just too big, so I put down a deposit for now. It was really expensive Roughly in the 5 million won range
5. ㄱㄹㅂ Double-line surgery / ptosis correction / lower outer-corner canthoplasty - In-out would be difficult because of the epicanthoplasty scar, but they said it would be fully possible to achieve the semi-out photo I showed them - If I do lower outer-corner canthoplasty, the sharp look would seem a bit softer - The scar would stay similar to how it is now and would not get worse; it would not look like two lines. The reason overlapping folds happen is because the existing stitches were not all removed, and that would not happen here
* As I heard, the doctor said I must have had a hard time coming all the way there, and he felt friendly and kind * He explained double-line surgery in detail while drawing diagrams * When I asked about fat grafting and epicanthoplasty restoration, he seemed to think a little about epicanthoplasty restoration too, but said that although the eye might look softer, the horizontal width could become shorter and it could feel dull and cramped like a frog, so he did not recommend it. As for fat grafting, he said my eyes already tend to swell well and would look really bad in the morning, so I absolutely should not do it.. * He seemed very confident because he has a lot of experience with double-line surgery, which is a difficult operation, and I liked that he even said he would do his best to make it my last surgery * They did not have many different surgery options, and they said it would be possible exactly as in the photos I showed, so I left a deposit for now Price: roughly in the 5 million won range
6. ㅌㅇㅅ Double-line surgery / ptosis correction / upper-eyelid fat repositioning - Lowering the front part up to an in-out line is possible - For the middle line being swallowed, a forehead lift would be needed
* The doctor seemed extremely confident in his skills * Compared with places that do not charge a consultation fee, they charged 20,000 won, but they did not even take photos, and when I asked why, they kind of turned the question back on me like a teacher giving a problem to a student.. I didn’t feel the explanation was especially detailed. The consultation time also seemed short * At other places, they all said the in-out front part would be impossible, but here he immediately said it was possible and that it was easy for him, so I was surprised * Unusually, this was the first place to mention a forehead lift.. Of course, that would only be the very last option! * The doctor seemed highly skilled, but for some reason nothing really clicked for me I had the highest expectations for this place, so it was disappointing and I passed * There were no discounts at all, and because the chief surgeon does not perform lower outer-corner canthoplasty, that surgery would be done in collaboration with another doctor, so only the lower outer-corner canthoplasty portion could be discounted. The price without lower outer-corner canthoplasty was roughly in the 5 million won range
I went around for in-person consultations over two days, left deposits at two clinics, and I’m still deciding, but I think I’ll probably choose number 5 I think communication would be good, the hospital atmosphere seemed fine, and they said that if I show them the line photo I want, they print it out and look at it during the surgery I’m not sure if it’s the off-season right now, but there were hardly any waits at the clinics, so it was still manageable But even though I was only listening, I was really tired and exhausted... My eyes are such a complex case that there probably aren’t many people with a similar one, but I got a lot of help here when I was gathering information, so I wrote down at least what I remembered!
