In my case, I had lived with monolids the whole time, then used nude double-eyelid tape for about 2 years before getting double eyelid surgery! The photos are in order: recent -> with double-eyelid tape -> monolids! My memory from then isn’t perfectly clear, but I’ll try to remember as much as possible and write it out! The surgery cost was around 1.6-1.7 million won, but I couldn’t remember exactly, so I left it blank.
I’m from outside Seoul, so it was hard for me to go to Seoul. I decided to get double eyelid surgery in Busan, and although I made a list of several places, in the end I had surgery at a place where all of my older sister’s acquaintances had good results. (What I could call “legwork” was really just asking friends around me, then looking up app reviews among the hospitals I found that way to find a place that matched my style.)
I originally picked 3 places for consultations, but I only remember NBRs and Lee Hak Soo, and I can’t remember the name of the other oneㅠㅠ I chose all three hospitals after seeing acquaintances who had surgery there.
I went to Lee Hak Soo first. They didn’t take consultation reservations, and two consultants sat right by the entrance and did consultations there. Right next to the consultation area was the waiting area. I haven’t been to other hospitals, so I’m not sure, but since consultations and waiting were done in the same space with just one movable partition, I did think maybe the consultation was being done in too open of a place. But I think I just let it go, thinking the surgical result was what mattered.
The consultation with the consultant was fairly kind, and she did seem experienced, but since it wasn’t with the doctor, I didn’t pay that much attention and didn’t ask questions either. They said a consultation with the doctor was only possible if I booked surgery, and I don’t know what I was thinking at the time, but my mom said that since we’d seen acquaintances get good results, we should book the surgery, and I also thought, “It’ll probably be okay~” So I booked the surgery, waited a little, and then had the consultation with the doctor. The doctor was kind, and although the consultation wasn’t long, he kindly answered everything I asked. (Things like whether ptosis correction would make me have “rabbit eyes,” etc. I don’t remember the other questions..! I think I searched through YouTube and Google and prepared several questions about side effects, excessive surgery..? overcorrection, and things like that.) Since I had booked the surgery and the doctor’s consultation made him seem skilled, I didn’t go anywhere else and ended after visiting only Lee Hak Soo.
My needs were: Absolutely natural-looking The prettiest eyes possible from my own eyes, not celebrity eyes Because my midface is on the longer side, a double eyelid line that isn’t too high No medial epicanthoplasty (he recommended upper epicanthoplasty from the start. I didn’t really want that either, so I asked if it was absolutely necessary, but he recommended it because the inner corners were blocked. In the end, I’m satisfied that I did it now! As time passes, it does return somewhat, though not as much as before surgery.) Ptosis correction as little as possible (I didn’t want this either, but he said my eyes needed it, so I asked him to do as little as possible. Now... I’m satisfied...)

In my opinion, I think it’s a hospital worth considering when someone who likes a natural look and dislikes opening the inner corners wants double eyelid surgery. (I have an acquaintance who later got medial epicanthoplasty after some time passed after surgery. I also sometimes think maybe it would have been okay to do a little more upper epicanthoplasty. I think the doctor seems to prefer eyes that aren’t opened up too much.)
