I live outside Seoul, but I really did a lot of online and in-person research. What people looking into the same surgery absolutely need to know is:
1. I definitely!! recommend incision rather than the buried-suture method For us, this is not surgery to create double eyelids that do not exist, but surgery to lower existing natural double eyelids. If it is done with the buried-suture method, the force trying to return to the original double-eyelid line is so strong that I heard it often comes undone again within a short period of time (3 years). It depends on the person, but I am not the type to worry that much about eye-surgery scars, so I would advise you to go with the incisional method no matter what.
2. Be sure to consider the post-op side effect (lagophthalmos) Especially if you have large eyes or severe protruding eyes, please, please think about it one more time. If you think, “I hate even the slightest double-eyelid line showing!” and overdo it by excising too much, nine times out of ten you will suffer from severe lagophthalmos as a side effect... Because, literally, the existing eyelid skin was cut out and removed, so your eyes will not close as much, right? So instead of thinking you will completely remove the double eyelid, you should set the line with the idea that it will roll inward as an inner double eyelid so the line shows as little as possible. The less you excise, the longer the recovery period will be until your eyes become what you want after surgery. But that is better than suffering from lagophthalmos, right? For me too, compared with people who had similar surgeries, it took much longer for my eyes to become what I wanted,,,
