I’m a patient who has been going around for consultations with the sincere resolve that this will be my last surgery.
Because my implant has shifted and my face is asymmetrical, I honestly understand that patients seeking revision surgery for issues like this do take on some risk, so it’s true that I’ve been going to a lot of consultations.
That much means I’m being very careful because it’s my last chance, I suppose. I’m the kind of person who goes to a Korean medicine clinic every week for posture correction because my body has been twisted by asymmetry, so I really do think things through carefully.
1. ㅅㅁㅇ / Dr. ㅈㄷㅎ The hospital felt clean and well organized the moment I walked in. The staff also seemed to respect patients’ privacy. I noticed this when they called patient names at a volume loud enough for the person themselves to recognize it. The consultation coordinator was also as honest as possible and very kind. Things moved quickly, too. This was the disappointing part. The consultation with the doctor was rather short. After looking at my CT and my face, he checked exactly why I had come to the hospital, so I felt it could have been a quick judgment based on extensive experience. Second, even though I could feel that extensive experience, from my perspective as someone there for a consultation, it felt like it wasn’t enough for me to feel fully decided.
After the doctor’s consultation, I discussed the surgery cost with the coordinator and left with a slight sense that something was missing. Since it was one of the hospitals on my list that I’m considering, I felt disappointed that I may need to visit a few more places before I can make up my mind. The consultation fee is 10,000 won.
2. ㅊㄷㅊ / Dr. ㄱㅌㅎ I arrived exactly on time for the consultation. I could feel from filling out the chart that the clinic had only been opened recently. I already knew the doctor had plenty of experience before that, though. The hospital has a calm and quiet atmosphere. The staff are also on the quiet side. After filling out the chart, I waited about 10 minutes, then had a CT scan and took other photos needed for the consultation, and then had a consultation with the coordinator. After about 10 minutes with the coordinator, I waited for the doctor’s consultation. I waited about 10 minutes. The reason I remember it so clearly is that I had a prior appointment, so I had no choice but to keep track of the time. The doctor was also honest in the consultation. His opinion was similar to the other doctors I had consulted with before, so again, the final judgment was up to me. He was a doctor I had wanted to meet because of his YouTube lectures and strong aesthetic sense, but... After that, I discussed the surgery cost with the coordinator and left in a hurry because of my appointment. The consultation fee is 25,000 won.
So far, I’ve been living while avoiding my complex, but if I wait and regret it later, I’ll have wasted even more time. That’s why I made up my mind to do it now, and I ended up learning about this community too, checking apps a lot, and watching YouTube like crazy. But what I felt after going to consultations is that, since it’s revision surgery, even the doctor performing it feels the pressure. For ENT, since it’s about function, surgery is naturally recommended, but since this is my face, in my case I can’t help considering the cosmetic side too, so I’m searching around plastic surgery clinics. Still, it’s frustrating that the decision ultimately comes down to the patient. Plastic surgery is something people do for aesthetic reasons, so during consultations it feels disappointing that this important decision is left to the patient.
If there’s a hospital that can really give me a decisive solution for a complex like mine, please recommend one~ This was a long consultation review. (I consulted at more hospitals, but the opinions were similar, so I condensed them.) It’s hard that revision surgery is basically the patient’s judgment unless there’s a definite complication.
