First, I’ll briefly write down what I wanted to improve before surgery and the surgical method, then start
1. Points for improvement: improve the side-view hump, improve the way my nasal bridge looked wide from the front because of the hump, and improve my bulky nasal tip
2. Surgical method: nasal bridge osteotomy + nasal tip fat removal + nasal tip using septal cartilage (when they opened it, they said the hump was not severe, so they kept the hump)
The hump was my biggest concern, but I wanted to have surgery without implants, so I looked into several hospitals famous for implant-free rhinoplasty and went to about 3-4 consultations in person
I wrote my questions, the surgical methods I heard at each hospital, the prices, and aftercare in my notes, compared them, and then finally chose the hospital.ᐟ
When I had the consultation at the hospital where I got surgery, I really liked that the consultant and the director did not say different things and only recommended what was necessary without overtreatment I heard that sometimes there are hospitals where the consultant and the director say different things, so I think it would be good to check that too
For the price, there were no discounts at all except for same-day reservation, and they mentioned CCTV of course, and even said that a guardian could come directly into the operating room and watch, and they said A/S is for 3 years, so I liked that part too
Then now I’ll get into the story from the day of surgery.ᐟ
My surgery started at 10:00 in the morning, and when you go to the hospital, they guide you to an inpatient room After changing all my clothes and shoes, washing my face in the powder room, and going out, I had preoperative photos taken in another room and an electrocardiogram test, then went back to the inpatient room and waited After that, I met the director, heard the surgical method, went back to the inpatient room and waited, then a teacher from the operating room came, watched me gargle, and guided me to the operating room After I went in, all the surgery prep was finished, and when the director came in, they gave me the anesthetic right away
And when you open your eyes, you’re in the inpatient room lololol I think I was there for about an hour, and maybe they put eye ointment in because my eyes were moist Before discharge, they gave me water and put the necessary items in a shopping bag, explained all the precautions, then told me I could be discharged, and the director came and checked me one more time. Then it was really discharge.ᐟ
It may differ by hospital, but here they remove the cotton packing on day 1 Wow.. it hurt.. It was like the pain of having your nose swabbed during a COVID test, but it hurt more than that, and after taking it out, they disinfected and cleaned my nose, and that hurt too, so tears rolled down lololol After that, the care was applying eye ointment.ᐟ And doing compresses.ᐟ
And on day 6, I had the splint and stitches removed, and stitch removal is the real thing lololol it hurts,, Everyone says once the splint comes off, you feel like the surgery failed, but I was totally okay.ᐟ Maybe because I didn’t have much swelling after surgery, I was really satisfied ㆅㆅ After that, the care is doing massages, and the hospital gave me something called a splint to attach while sleeping to protect my nose. You just need to do that well.ᐟ
Okay, now I’ll ramble about my personal thoughts after nose surgery
1. Inconveniences
Not being able to wash my face firmly was more inconvenient than I thought? And because my nose became higher and I’m not used to it, I keep hitting my nose And when my nose itches, I can’t even rub it, so it’s frustrating, and when my nose runs, I have to gently dab it with tissue, so that part is still inconvenient too Of course, I still can’t pick my nose.. Oh right, also know that even now my philtrum still doesn’t stretch well, so I can’t press my lips together.. After surgery, even after packing removal, my nose was blocked, so I had to breathe through my mouth Since your mouth gets really dry, make sure to always have a humidifier and water next to you, and apply lip balm often.ᐟ.ᐟ Otherwise your lips will crack and hurt
2. Satisfaction with the nose shape
The side view definitely changed, so I’m satisfied, but since they didn’t shave down the hump, when you see it in person, it protrudes slightly, and that bothers me a little From the front, I’m satisfied because the nasal bridge area changed a lot, but although it doesn’t show in the photos I uploaded now, should I say the nostril wing area looks sunken? It’s a bit shadowed, so it tends to look like a hooked/downturned nose, but I think this might improve over time, so I’m going to watch it for a bit What I wanted was improved, but it kind of feels like I understand why everyone gets nose surgery multiple times,,?
3. Things that were disappointing
First, during the preoperative consultation, the director explained the surgical method, but afterward there wasn’t separate time to ask things I was curious about? It didn’t feel like a relaxed consultation, so I felt slightly disappointed.ᐟ And at the 2-week consultation, after taking the before-and-after photos, they talked while looking at them, but even then, unless I asked first, they didn’t separately ask whether I had any questions, so I was a liiittle disappointed,, It’s partly because I’m timid too, so everyone, if you’re curious about something, don’t hesitate awkwardly like me and make sure to ask ㆅㆅ,,
4. Rambling
Hmm,, I think I worried quite a lot about nose surgery too, but I’m fairly satisfied I don’t feel like the front changed huugely or that my image changed 180 degrees, but still, it improved a lot, and I’m satisfied enough just from gaining confidence in my side profile Personally, I feel like it’s a surgery with more inconveniences until you fully recover, but if it’s to improve a complex, I think this level of inconvenience is something you have to accept.ᐟ Oh, and there may be people wondering whether a guardian is absolutely necessary, and I felt it was good to have one,, Right after discharge, I went to the pharmacy to get my medicine, and I did feel a little dazed You can walk, but you might trip if something goes wrong, so if possible, I recommend being discharged together with a guardian
