Review of Failed SMILE LASIK

When I look at things far away, the letters look doubled and overlapped, so to see properly I have to squint. I wondered if it was because my eyes were dry, but it’s the same even when I look shortly after putting in artificial tears. At a recent checkup, they asked if I had any uncomfortable symptoms, so I explained the situation and saw Director Ki Hyun-joo. The director reacted with a vibe like, “Why is she making a fuss over nothing?” and said that whether it’s SMILE LASIK or LASIK, vision correction surgery flattens the cornea, so the function of bringing the image together properly inevitably gets worse. They said it’s a limitation of the surgery so there’s nothing that can be done, that it can’t be helped because my natural pupils are large, that there isn’t really anything they can do and I just have to try to adapt to seeing things doubled. They seemed to have 0 intention of resolving my current situation. They said if I really needed it, I could get a detailed exam, so I said okay, and they did a detailed exam with a device similar to the one used to fit lenses at an optical shop. When they changed the lenses from the default setting, I could really feel that I could see much better... After the test ended and I had another consultation, they said that when I first had vision correction, they had set it slightly toward hyperopia rather than emmetropia, but it had changed toward myopia. They consider -0.5 diopters to 0.5 diopters the emmetropic range, and they said my detailed exam result was exactly -0.5 diopters. So even though I had SMILE LASIK, I’m myopic. They say I can see with emmetropia if I wear glasses, but then why did I get LASIK Anyway, at first they told me to adapt; to not seeing well, and then after seeing the detailed exam results, only then did they prescribe medication. For one month of dry eye treatment medication + steroid drops. I hope things become completely okay after using these, but honestly, my trust is already totally shattered because of the hospital’s attitude. It wasn’t cosmetic surgery but vision correction, so I didn’t look much into hospital information, and since many people around me had done it, I chose this place. I regret it so much. Why did I go to the most factory-like of factory clinics... Their promotional wording says things like “highest number of SMILE LASIK surgeries! Average vision 1.2!” but the reason they have many surgeries is because there are that many doctors doing surgery at the hospital... Numbers like vision 1.2 are such an inaccurate standard... I also come out as 1.2 if I just look at the eye chart; the letters overlap so much, but if I infer them with my brain while looking, I can see them.. I really hope people know that included in that average 1.2 are people like me who feel discomfort in real life and whose myopia correction was not perfectly completed. When people write negative things on this hospital’s Kakao Map rating, they hide the comments for defamation. They won’t see my post and file defamation against me too, right? It’s a bit scary... Anyway, it is better than living with only glasses, so I don’t regret getting vision correction surgery itself, but I regret choosing the hospital so much. I hope everyone looks carefully into hospital information before choosing..
