I got the urge again this year, so I’ve just been going for consultations mostly at places that do only the nasal tip with a closed approach. I saw a lot of recommendation comments saying ㄴㅈㄹ is good at closed rhinoplasty, so I went for a consultation.
In the middle of that, I didn’t plan to do functional nose surgery, so I wasn’t going to get a CT, but they said I couldn’t have the consultation without one, so I got it and came out.
Then I met the consultation manager, and I got a strangely unfriendly feeling, so it felt off. Even after taking photos, the director still hadn’t come, so the manager first told me a bit about the price.
Because I had tried threads before, foreign body removal was 2.2 million won, and even though it was my first surgery, using autologous costal cartilage was 3.5 million won (donated rib cartilage was a bit cheaper), and as various things kept getting added, the total quote ended up over 10 million won.....
Seriously, as soon as I heard the quote, I didn’t even want to continue the consultation, and I didn’t want to sit there feeling uncomfortable, so I said I wouldn’t see the director and just left.
Since last year, I’ve really gone around to a lot of places for consultations (though the direction I want has changed). I think I’ve been to at least 20 places, but it was my first time seeing a clinic suggest donated rib cartilage for a first surgery, my first time seeing foreign body removal cost over 2 million won, and my first time seeing the total quote come out to 10 million won after adding everything.
They also charged 30,000 won for the CT scan; they should have told me the quote before taking it. They seemed to have the expected quote written down and told me after the scan, so I wondered if they did it on purpose. A waste of time and money. It was an uncomfortable and annoying experience.
